So as you may know(or not), Hellgate is still going in Korea. It has progressed and slightly changed up a bit, but more or less the same game. Well word has it, there will be North America servers soon. Like next month soon. Anyone planning on checking it out?

Did they completely close the US servers down earlier this year?

Yeah I'm pretty sure they did. Not a good habit to bring servers down and bring them back whenever you damn well please, as nobody will keep playing if they're worried their game can go away at any time.

Is it doing well in Korea or something? I thought this game was pretty fun, but some classes were horribly flawed. The blademaster comes to mind, it was an awesome concept but they got their asses kicked once you got kind of high in levels. The demon mage guy on the other hand was really fun if you went full spell casting. I wouldn't mind trying this game again, it would be nice to try i ton my newer PC that can max it out.

I thought the Blademaster was considered horribly unbalanced at all levels and basically made the game boring. At least thats what I heard. I must have been wrong.

Anyway, I did the demo and while it was cool, it wasnt the groundbreaking title we were all hoping for. I got bored and never purchased the full version. Maybe it will have new life in Korea and be fun again.

There was no class that made the game easy-mode. If anything, playing a melee character made the game HARDER because certain monsters did ridiculous damage at short range. I did a templar in HC and was going just fine till I walked into a group of them, can't recall their name now. They did more damage than bosses though. Their was a gun in the game that did the same attack, but while they fixed the gun early on they never fixed the monster.

There's also a sequel coming, Hellgate:Tokyo. They released a trailer already:

I completely agree, except for one thing. There is no hardcore mode in Borderlands. Hardcore changes things.

true

easily patchable though

all the antifarm measures they tried in HGL actually forced you to farm to get anything done.

I'm hoping that it shows up on steam for a low price. I would buy it even for single player.

Hope this conveys Flagship Studios exceptionally good DX10 implementation and continue on the same path with the graphics which were superb, excellent art direction.

There were some glaring flaws in Hellgate: London but I do feel that most of the criticisms are overly zealous. It was a reasonably fun game overall.

Hellgate: Toyko looks to have an equally terrible story to it with some scary in-game implications. The overall story of Hellgate: London was good but about 10 minutes in, you didnt care about the story and by the time you were about 50% through the game, you wondered why you were subjecting yourself to such story-torture.

I might check this out when it's released or at least attempt to get into a Beta.

I feel ashamed to say I was surprised at the ending of Hellgate:London. I honestly didn't see it coming. I might have to reinstall the game, I never did play it in DX10 mode. I refused to ever get Vista, but now with Win7 I'll have to try it out.

Oh wow, did not think this would happen. I enjoyed elements of the game, but they had some really poor implementation and some questionable business ideas that really screwed the game over.

Any further details on this? I could not find a story anywhere.

Refused to get Vista? I'd love to hear why.

Can't speak for Malak, but for me it was mainly because I would have had to pay for it. I was an undergraduate when XP was out, so I got it through the school's site license (and yes, it allowed me to continue using it after graduation; I read the license). Now I've started grad school, and can get a 7 license the same way. I was not in school while Vista was out, and it wasn't compelling enough to be worth paying for. I'd probably still be on XP if 7 weren't free. (Where "free" = "I'm paying $x,000/class in tuition").

Actually the license seems to be different from the one at my undergrad school. If I'm not licensed to continue using it after I leave school, I'll have to decide if I want to buy it then I guess. (At the rate I'm going I'll be in grad school for 5 years, so it might be Windows 8 by then.)

Sorry, offtopic. So, Hellgate! I wanted to like it, but it didn't quite work for me. I need to check out Borderlands.

All the details are in korean, which I don't read. I'm getting fed translated news from a non-news source. So nothing to link yet. All I know is, they announced NA servers launching in mid-December. Looks like a lot of big changes but I think it'll be best to wait for an english announcement.

Vista was a transition OS. It offered nothing to me as an XP user. I waited patiently for Win7, which I now have. Win7 is what was supposed to be released after XP, Vista was rushed out.
