play it with 1.0 patch which comes out soon , it will add new area and tile set :!

Im not gonna buy it because i dont like london, its a crap setting for a game imo, i played this hella old game called "nightmare creatures" and it was set in london. Tough game, pretty fun to play at the time but i never liked the whole london thing.

I mightve gotten Hellgate: Moscow :p

Hellgate London would have been the best game I have played since Diablo 2 if it wasnt for the bugs. I blame EA for forcing the game out probably 3 months too early.

The Dev team are extremely competent and are constantly listening to people and improving the game through patches. It is an absolutely gorgeous game in DX9 or DX10 which deserves credit for whilst not being particularly revolutionary but trying to combine great aspects from older games into a brand new mould and actually pulling it off rather well.

They rather messed up with their Subscription Service and I will not forgive FSS for not releasing a Collectors Edition in the EU or allowing us Europeans to get a pre-order code and become a Founder which was my intention when I pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk.

Whilst I cannot provide a solution to your problem, the only way I know of to play Hellgate London with other people is online through their servers. I believe Hellgate London to be similar to Guild Wars in that its sort of MMORPG but its not.

i would not buy hellgate, period.

You suck :! its an awesome game that has been bad mouth by loads of people for just stupid reason. The demo of the game only showed so little about the game. The bug problem has been solved with December patch.

If you were one of the people who bought BF1942 when it came then you know how buggy the game was and how the gameplay was really not polished and also the gun combat was crap. It took dice months before they fixed 90% of the problem with 1.5 patch.

i'm not even talking about bugs. the gameplay is repetitive and boring as hell. lets play through the same 3 areas and just rotate the sequences they appear in!

just another dumb EA game that i'm never going to finish. just threw money down the toilet. Crysis was the other game in case you were wondering.

also, doesn't the game have to have lan mode to begin with for hamachi to work?
you have to log in to the game servers to play online, if i'm not mistaken.

i really like it ... it has all the qualities of a mindless shooter - think Serious Sam and SS2 [not 3:p] - BUT with endless variation with the upgrades and maps

Best of all, it also has *nightmare difficulty* which keeps me playing ... Level 44 Summoner going for the Level 50 cap and waiting for the X-pack
--i don't care for the MP at all .. the SP has me well over 300 hours into it

I mightve gotten Hellgate: Moscow
Try STALKER, Soviet :p
... close enuff

edit and update: I *loved* London ... i was a kid - a tourist - age 16 and *free* to explore London ... i got to really know the tubes and playing Hg:L is an apocalyptic trip down memory lane .. by age 18 i was back living in Dublin - drinking up a storm in the pubs with my mates - and writing for a living.

Piccadilly Circus is done particularly well although the British museum is barely 1/100th of the real thing ... Hg:L has an incredible *atmosphere*

I got bored with it and haven't thought about it at all until seeing this thread. Now I'll remember to throw it away when I get home.

if you've signed up online with HGL, can another person create an account or would you have to give them your account info (like if you sold them the game)?

Will this require a subscription? I really enjoyed the game when it first came out, but as previously the tile sets are way to repetitive...

Yes, it will require a subscription. Probably the dumbest move they made with this game was the whole subscriber vs. non-subscriber BS.

I played up to lvl 15 maybe? wasn't doing anything for me.
I also found a trainer and used that test out some skills and stuff and get a higher level so I could get further in the game to see if it interested me more. I can say for sure that it doesn't. The story is mainly non-existent. The quests suck and are just like every other MMORPG type quests - kill x enemies, find x of item a.

the unchanging levels/areas are also horrible. i think they shot themselves in the foot by limiting it to a single city. everything is just so drab and blah.

the skills suck and really don't offer much. i have trouble deciding what to put my points in, not because there's so many cool skills i can't decide, but its because none look worth putting points into.

the enemies are boring and just run/fly/jump at you. the only challenge is that some of them have insane amounts of HP and/or do insane amounts of damage.

items are horrible. i rarely find anything usable or even cool. most of the items that drop are useless because the stats suck or its for eevry class but mine and rarely better than what I have already. most of the models look like they were designed by a monkey with Down's syndrome.

personally, i just think you just don't "get it" :p
--"Skills" really need a lot of thought ... and are quite valuable in later levels ... i thought the Witch Doctor was absolute garbage ... until i tried him again after Level 40 ... now he is a mainstay .... if Max needs to stay alive in a crucial situation, the Doctor is just what the Dr ordered

rose.gif

and finding JUNK is part of the overall experience ... *nothing is junk* ... you can recraft everything into valuable gear OR just make tons of Palladium to buy what you really need

and the Levels DO change ... at Level 46 you would NOT believe the *MOBS* that the devs throw at you ... some of the enemy NPCs are INVISIBLE [!!!]

Hg:L is an awesome game ... for a patient person that loves Serious Sam style of play - with cool RPG-type upgrades ... and the minions really "make" a Summoner

i couldn't love the Engineer even though i finished the game with him
:(

I was thinking about buying this, I play a lot of games like Wow, Guild Wars, lots of fps games too this one just looked interesting since it was a combination of the two. Looks sorta like an oblivion type game to me.

I was spending a few quality minutes on the throne last night and started reading the latest copy of CGW. They have the HGL review in it and all you need to say is bow-wow-wow-yo-yippee-yo-yippee-yeah. They dogged it with a 4/10 score. Was nice to see many of their complaints similar to what I have said  :D

not funny at all ... it depends on your *expectations* what score you give this game

http://www.metacritic.com/game...orms/pc/hellgatelondon

from 8.9 at PC gamer down to 4.0 at 1up with a 7.0 from the critics overall

i'd agree with the overall ... :p

7/10 overall [hated the MP] ... but *nightmare* Summoner on SP get an 8.0+ from me

It?s no "Diablo 2," yet, but give it time and you?ll be pleasantly surprised by just how much is on offer here. And hey, if nothing else you get to pretend that the demons are Christmas shoppers, which makes slaughtering them just that little bit more fun.
