Whatever happened to people thinking in this manner....

You don't step on my toes and I won't step on your toes. I personally have a cell phone. When in a theater I put it on vibration. When I am driving I use a headset. I am responsible with my usage.

I don't want one of you idiots disreputing my service because some other idiot has pissed you off. You have no right to f*ck with me. I have done nothing to you. I have every right to use my phone how I want to as long as it doesn't step on your toes.

Why do you have the right to prevent me from taking a call that could be an emergency call? You don't have that right. If you do then I have every right to take a water hose and spray you down if you are smoking because it bothers me.

Codewiz, good point. I think my tolerance for them has fallen so low because of those who are not considerate with them. The few bad apples have spoiled the bunch. :(

That is just horsesh*t. I do a lot of driving so chances are if my mom ever got into a wreck in her car then I would receive the call while in my vehicle. That means I would be talking and driving WHILE having an emergency.

That may be in some cases, but it certainly isn't true with all of them.

I had one driver behind me who took their hand off of the wheel so they could scratch their head and still hold onto the cell phone. She was weaving all over the road and speeding to boot.

Any decent theatre should either have one of these or have walls thick enough to just block out all cell phones...

One of my friends was driving a manual transmission and talking on the phone the other day. have to tell you, that's about the scariest thing for the passenger. He was shifting and steering with the same one hand!
I normally use my knees to steer in that circumstance. I've actually eaten a wendys salad while driving (albeit in an automatic). One hand holding up the plate, the other with the fork. i'm really quite good at driving with knees now.

Would love to have one of these in a pocket size model, so you could switch it on when the big haired bimbo's in resturants feel the need to talk loud to whomever though half of your dinner or that @sshole who stood behind me last week in the post office talking to someone who must have been in a fighter jet or a wind tunnel because he was yelling at the back of my head.

So since that person did that, it means that it gives you the right to take my ability to take a call away?

Since guns have been used to kill people then that means I should not be allowed to use one because someone was murdered with a gun.

Great logic. It is great to see this lovely thinking finally taking off. Lets ban cell phone use. Lets ban gun ownership. Lets ban anything where some person could abuse the product. Hail Hitler.

Fortunately my qcp6035 has a built in speakerphone, and when that's not enough I have a earpiece in easy reach. Usually I can just mount the phone on my visor in speakerphone mode and keep my eyes on the road while talking. Also has voice dialing so I don't have to take my eyes off the road to dial.
People need to get phones like this!

Heh, as if this changes anything. I live in Suffolk County (first in the US to require hands free while driving, before NY State did). You know what? I still see tons of people talking on their cell phone w/o hands free while driving. Granted, I do see a bit more people with hands free devices (particularly the boom mic ones). But there are still a large number of people doing it.

ok i'll only support the activation of cellphone jammers in theaters and only the really weak 100 ft. radius ones...I HATE CELLPHONES in THEATERS!!!!!! HATE HATE EM!!! They partially ruined AI, We Were Soldiers, Minority Report, and LOTR. Well yea the people who don't have vibration on are inconsiderate, what i really hate are people that decided to let it ring instead of taking it outside. And even worse, there are people that will TALK INSIDE THE THEATER!!!! ahhh...

Anyways, cellphones while driving aren't that bad, i do agree that it may save lives. The only incidents i have with cellphones in the car is where there is a person talking on the cellphone and holding up traffic. Use of the horn usually resolves that.

Where in my post did I say that your call should be taken away? My post(s) were meant to indicate that I have become annoyed with cell phones because of the actions of those who abuse them (and I do have the right to my opinion and feelings). Nowhere did I say that you shouldn't be allowed to use yours, nor did I say that their use should be banned. I just wish that people would use them wisely. Stop being so touchy. :p

You nailed it for me. I HATE/DESPISE/LOATHE and wanna kill cell phones in movie theatres maybe even people who talk as well! Ok maybe not that drastic, yet.

I can't really bitch about people who talk and cell phone yack because I'm one of them. However if I HAVE to talk I try to make them very brief conversations and if I'm driving at night or somewhere which requires absolute attention I just won't use the cell phone. My life, my car and others around me are far more important than yacking on a cell phone.

Azraele,

I apologize. I wasn't meaning for that entire post to be directed at you :) The only sentence I was directing at you was the first line. My point was that I don't care if some idiot does something stupid. I don't do it so I want to continue to take my calls. I see tons of stupid people do dumb things on the road without a cell phone :)

I am not getting touchy. My point is simply that just because something can be abused doesn't mean that the people who don't abuse the product should be punished. Punish the people that commit the acts of stupidity.

Theaters should make a policy that if you take a call in the theater then you should be kicked out. If your phone rings in the theater then you get kicked out.

Make a law requiring a headset while driving. You are supposed to use two hands when driving anyways. Just don't allow people to buy products that allow other idiots to disrupt my cell phone calls when I am doing nothing that harms or bothers others.

When my phone vibrates during a movie I do to the lobby and see who it is and make a decision to call back or not.

:)

So true and it also goes for those who eat, apply makeup, read and -- I saw this last week -- brush their teeth.

Driving is hard enough and requires more attention that we normally have without these distractions. Cell phones are a convenience. If you allow it to become integrated into your life to the point you use it while driving, consider the safety of those around you and turn the damn thing off (unless you are the only one who can dismantle the bomb hidden under the orphanage).

If you admit cell phone usage while driving is a distraction, and continue to use, then you are knowingly putting yourself and others at risk.

Maybe I need to clairify. if I get one and install it, it would not be on all the time. It would be turned on by me when a driver starts acting like an ass. I had assumed that the people here could actually figure that out without me saying it. Not like I would be a rolling mile of "out of range". Come on people. think logicly.

For one, if I left it on, I would be easier to find :)

Really. I don't have a problem talking on my cell phone and driving. Of course I am not an inconsiderate ass. I pay attention to the road. If the phone conversation can be made another time then I will tell the person to call me back. I will get the hands free kit as soon as I get a new phone. Right now my phone is getting old and the hands free for it still isn't cheap.

BTW, I would prefer that people didn't jam. The only way I made it to the nursing home before my grandmother died, was because I got a call on my cell phone on the way home from school(40 miles from my house).

Jamming cell phones is as inconsiderate as the asses that talk on them 24/7 in their car and don't pay attention to the road and cause wrecks.

These things aren't for mobile use!

These cell killers are common in other countries where they aren't illegal. They see frequent use in restaurants and theaters where their use is deemed appropriate by the proprietors of such establishments.

Sadly, it's almost always one idjit that has to go and screw things up for all the others. Theatres are starting to have warnings before the show (the one which informs you where the exits are) which advise peopl to turn off their cell phones. What happens? After the lights go down, a phone goes off in the theatre.

I have too many cell-phone related driving horror stories to even contemplate.

I can certainly see how personal jammers can be seen as privilege-infringing. It's probably not an effective or reasonable solution to either of the above problems. Doesn't mean that I can't dream about the panacea of owning one, though.

Wait until some malicious little sh!t sets one of these HP units up in your neighborhood.

What gives one person the right to block another person's radio signal? How is this blocker contained by walls? It's not, of course, and one cannot guarantee that the blocking signal will not extend past their property.

I'm as annoyed and offended as the next guy by rude cell phone users. However, I have no right to be free of offense and annoyances. I also have no right to interfere with the radio transmission of another person.

you do realize that the accident rate is the same for hand-held and hands-free phones, right?

Cell phones are a distraction that is singled out because we can SEE them. They really aren't any more dangerous than changing a radio station, eating, drinking, or talking to a passanger. ALL are dangerous distractions, but because we can SEE the cell phone, we single it out.
