Locally, why not? Universally, no way.

Whisper;

<...Like you just said: the real thing won't be known to any of us until we aren't able to post on these boards any longer...>

Ummm, where did I say that?

<...That's all the proof I need, and it wasn't easy to come by...>

Well, still, it's not enough for me. I'm still looking.

this is not a flame war

I didn't say it was. I said they become flame wars. So I avoid them as much as possible.

I don't think its God that would punish you....It would be self inflicted punishment, because you would be unwilling to give up your sins. And the sins would be the things that would tear at you and torture you. Your sins, that you can let go whenever you want.

"Certainly, the concept of Heaven exists. That Heaven actually exists even you cannot possibly know"

That's essentially what I took to mean as you saying Heaven may or may not exist, and no one will know until we get there.

As for the proof, you're right: it's something you'll have to discover on your own. That's the only way it'll hold any meaning for anyone.

I don't believe that Heaven or Hell exists, but I can't prove it. I believe that they could exist, but we won't know until we get there. So don't sweat it. Just lead the best life you can, and you'll find it all out later.

Sure, we can't truly know about this stuff until we get there, but isn't it fun theorizing and such? What are your theories?

If anyone has heard of pascal's wager i believe it is the best answer one can have for why one should believe n heavan and hell and live a "good" life. It goes somethig like this.

If heavan exists and you live a good life you go to heavan. YOu gain infinate personal happiness.
If heavan doesn't exist but you live a good live you loose some happy ness on earth.

The argument is longer and more complex but it is better to risk a little unhappyness on earth versus eternal gratification.
