From what it looked like, they were somewhat serious but didnt have the brains, the braun, or the capital to back it up. The owner of the 'company' had started several other companies that failed.

It's a pump & dump scheme by the business owner. He's getting tons of capital from investors for smoke and mirrors while paying himself a very hansome salary. When the company eventually fails what does he care because he's been lining his own pockets with tons of cash.
