I was planning on getting a job starting the end of last month. My money was starting to get low, but not in the dangerous zone yet. I had a job first quarter, but then didn't second quarter so I could get my grades up a bit (they have gone up). Now third quarter I was going to get a job again.

Bad move. Should have kept the job when I had it.

Unexpectedly, they raised tuition by a bunch for this quarter, and it was also a retroactive raise with last quarter. There goes half my reserves.

Some other various disasters (such as the heatsink/fan failing on my CPU), and there goes more of my money.

Now I only have about $100 (where just a month ago I had about $1000) and I need $350 by next month (and then $350 the month after).

And, what do you know, the economy sucks really bad right now. I have applied to 10 places, and each said "we are not hireing right now but you can submit an application." I have gone to about 40 more (no joke) and they straight up said "we aren't hireing."

This includes work study jobs.

And my parents are getting a divorce (after 21 years of marraige), and so they don't have any money to lend. Plus, I've never asked them for money before and I don't really want to start. They don't owe me anything.

Look for some sort of liquidation thread in the For Sale forum soon :p

What kind of TV do you have? :)

I know your situation first hand, but it always seems to work out in the end.

u should be able to get some financial aid if your parents are separated (not saying divorce is a good thing)

Actually, I was lucky enough that it didn't fry my whole computer. So I have my comp up and running again, but it did cost about $50.

My food for the forseable future is straight Ramen (can't beat oodles of noodles for 10 cents a pack! :p).

I might be selling a 10gb ipod though (if I can fix it... I tried to convert from a mac ipod to pc ipod, and it messed up. But all I need I think to fix it is to get it to a mac somewhere and run the auto repair)... the thread will probably be up in a couple of hours.

maybe you can put up a www.savedatalink.com site...

Save datalink... now there's an idea :p;)

Do you think financial aid would help out some? I wonder if they would be willing to convert my work study money into a grant or loan, seeing as how I can't get a work study job (and am trying). Probably not but it might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the idea :)

No, there actually isn't.:(

I've been trying. Just stopped by Burger Kind and McDonalds today (after promising myself I'd never work at fast food again), and they both said "we aren't hiering right now."

I've tried safeway, and it was the same deal. Same with Sharis Restaurant.

Going to try albertsons, though that is a long bike ride away (I don't have a car).

Yup, did that around January. That only kicks in for next year though. I've already recieved all my loans/grants for this year.

So do you donate plasma (like soybomb suggested)? You can make 100-200 bucks a month easily right there. And that only entails 5 or so hours of "work" a month.
