I'm getting a 1G Retail T-bird, and I'm hoping to get 1.1 or 1.2 out of it. Which of the three heatsinks would be the best for this application? I'm planning on getting the Delta 38cfm fan no matter which heatsink I get.

Xerox Man,

With that 38cfm fan, any one of the heatsinks you listed will cool your CPU well as long as you use thermal paste and have good case ventilation. The 38cfm fan is very loud....so loud that I couldn't stand the whine and replaced it with a modified shroud on my Alpha Pal6035 coupled with a 80mm fan...now much quieter :)

My A7V TBird 1GHz runs at 47 to 51C at full load running RC5 24/7 based on room temperature. The idle isn't much cooler because of the crappy BIOS of the A7V board when it comes to cooling. The older BIOS produced temps in the mid 30C's with that, but I needed the new BIOS for Win2000 stability.

Good Luck :)

Get the FOP38 (which comes with a Delta at no extra cost) and save some money. All three are so close performance wise its not worth it to spend more... unless you want to :)

OK, thanks. I've got a Chrome Orb now - will that be temporarily sufficient, or should I wait to put everything together until I get a better heatsink?

As Mikewarrior2 teached us for quite some time now the Chrome Orb is crap and is just barely enough to cool a T-Bird @ 1 GHz, so you might be ok if you don't overclock or you should just buy something better!
