"Stay away from hedgehog...doesn't seem to perform really well...poor design and fab."
That is not really true, they perform better than even the Alpha's, but they do need a high RPM fan. The only thing about the construction that is not optimal is that it is not a forged one piece heatsink and instead has the fins pressed into the base. This is not optimal, but forged copper HSF go for $100+. Copper transfers heat much better than aluminum, but it does not shed it as well, that is why you need a high RPM fan. It also works best with the fan blowing away from the heatsink and using the shroud that comes with it. This setup pulls cool air in at the base of the fins and draws the heat away from the HSF. Mine came wrapped in plastic and the base was so polished, I did not need to do any lapping that I had planned on doing. Both the FOP38, Alpha's, and the Hedgehog are great HSF's, but in my opinion the hedgehog is the best one right now. Why do you think Alpha put copper in the base of their HSF?
