Some of the early Carcass stuff was pretty heavy.. especially off of Symphonies of Sickness. At all costs, avoid their Heartwork CD.

But, I'd say Carcass is probably the heaviest stuff I've heard.

Some of S.O.D.s stuff had some pretty catchy lyric, so you may consider some of their stuff. Oh, and Anus the Menace was a pretty cool band too. 🙂

Want something really HEAVY not like NIN or Korn ?

Napalm Death (i just love "Fear, Emtpiness, Despair&quot😉
Cannibal Corpse ("Eaten Back to Life" is my favorite CD from them)
Venom
Brutal Truth
Diablolic Masquerade
Gorgoroth
Witchery (haven't released anything moderate yet)
Satyricon
Nocturnal Breed (those guys are IMHO even funny 🙂 )
Storm
Mysticum
Enthroned
Hate Theory
Bolth Thrower
...

uhh, too many bands to count really 🙂

IMHO Cryptopsy's "Whisper Supremacy" or "And Then You'll Beg" is pretty
damn heavy stuff. Listen to that few times and your ears are bleeding.
That's like a heavy/death metal combination, damn great when in aggressive
mood 🙂

Deicide is another, "Legion" album is a true killer. Lyrically it can
horrify some though.

..limb bitsktwetiu38764 / NIN.. heavy? ... hehehe 🙂🙂 that's funny 🙂

Timeless "Heavy Music": Slade's "Sladest" - 1974, which includes the hits, "Cum On Feel The Noize", "Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me" and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now". Mmmmmm good! 😉
