Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 worth getting?

I just played the demo and must say it's visually impressive and plays smoothly. It reminds me of Heretic 2. Does anybody who has this game recommend the full version?

If you liked Heretic 2, then definitely go for it. It's an excellent game for as long as it lasts, which isn't long (~15 hrs.). I had a lot of fun with it, except for a couple of issues:

1. The game is very picky about drivers, I couldn't get it to work at all until the detonator 3s came out.

2. Some of the jumping puzzles are very annoying and seemingly impossible, especially later in the game. I was so annoyed that I had to use the ghost command through the console.

Despite those, I still think it has been one of the best games of the year.

The demo crashed on me quite a bit. I did find a demo patch and installed it. No idea yet if it makes the demo more stable. I'm running the 6.18 drivers right now....need to update those, too, I suppose.

Jumping puzzles? Damn, I hate those! They were most lame in Heretic 2 (there was one hub near the end that had a whole level devoted to ducking and jumping and I truly hated it).

I read a review that said the game is very short. Hmmm....I may wait for it to appear in the bargain bins.

the protaganist is a cutie, to be sure, but that's not why I'd buy the game.


I will say one thing: they did an incredible job in creating a beautiful gaming environment. Best use of the Q3 engine yet though I know some feel ST: Elite Forces is equally good.

the general consensus is the game is rather short. would 12 hours of entertainment be worth your $30?

It's more like $40? But, no it isn't. I also passed on MechWarrior 3 for this reason.
