Just beat it tonight. Great game, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't imagine that any other game that I might've picked out when I bought my PS3 would've been better than this one. Time to start God of War! 🙂
 
I got this game as a present, and after hearing lackluster reactions, I really wasn't expecting much. Therefore, I was completely surprised.

First off, the game looks plain gorgeous. It it probably the best looking console game that I own (and I own all 3 systems). The facial animations are fluid and dynamic, and for once I actually enjoy the voice acting with the game. Sometimes I find myself stopping and admiring the environments because they are so beautiful.

The gameplay is solid, though not that groundbreaking or indepth. It isn't really innovative, but it sure as hell is fun.

I don't know. I guess after hearing so many bad things about the game, I really am surprised by how much I enjoy it. It isn't my favorite game by any means, but it is my favorite that I own on the PS3 and thoroughly enjoyable in it's own right.
 
You said exactly how I feel as well, Dumac. I wasn't expecting much more than just some fun hacking and slashing, but I was also completely surprised at how good this game was/is.
