Heatsink / System Fan suggestions?...

I have a AMD64 3000+ (Clawhammer) currently running with stock HSF @ 2.1Ghz (210 x 10, 1.6v Vcore)....my temps are 45c idle and 60c !!! full load (prime 95).....which scares me.

Im looking to overclock more to about 2.4Ghz and i need suggestions for the best (price no bar) heatsink for the job. I dont want to get into water cooling just as yet, but if its required for that kind of overclock please do let me know.

Also if anyone can suggest a good 80mm system fan...that will be great.

Thanks in advance!

Thermalright XP-90 or 120. Panaflo fans are longlasting, relatively quiet and some models can move a fair amount of air. As to whether or not you NEED water for that sort of overclock, I'd say no. As long as you don't mind noise you can do almost as well as water using a powerful set of fans. BTW, 60c load really isn't THAT bad.

The 90's smaller and made of copper, the 120 is much larger and made mostly of AL. I'd go with the 120 if there was enough room on my mb.

ok...i hv finally decided on the XP-120..could anyone suggest the best fan for it?....i dont want to use the panaflo....cos its not fast enough for me.

thanks.

Get a 92mm with a fan controller. When it gets hot, turn it up to the vacuum cleaner sound speeds and watch the temperature drop 🙂
