Heatsink suggestions

I'm considering buying an Athlon 64 3500 Winchester, and basically I cant think of any heatsink's i like, and i'm looking for one that would give me some overclocking room and keep the temp under control.

I've looked over the Zalman ones but they're too big and I dont like some other things about them, so any other ideas would be great.

Well the Thermalright XP-90 is a good one(one of the best from what I have read) plus you have the option of what kind of fan you would like. Plus I am looking into the Arctic-cooling Freezer 64. Seen good reviews on it but it looks kinda tall and not sure how much strain is on the board. I have the Zalman 7000B-Alcu and it does a good job of cooling and is quiet but I have just found out that it gathers dust much too quickly for me. It has only been in there for about 3 weeks and it looks pretty bad. There is not much space between the fins as you get closer to the cpu. As it starts to build up there it just keeps on going to the outer edges. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem but I know I am and I will be getting rid of it soon. I know I need to clean it often but this one gets dirty faster than anything else I have ever had. I will be getting the XP-90 as soon as someone has another sale(missed SVC the other day).

XP-90 is highly regarded as well as the bigger brother XP-120 <--- you do have to check for compatibility with this one though. Doesn't fit my P4G8X .

I have ordered the XP-90 so I am waiting for it to arrive

Those are huge too, but they do look impressive.

The cheaper (~$14) Arctic-Cooling HSF may suit you well. Some prefer to the more expensive Freezer 64.

Well it seems to be (and it makes sense, dont get me wrong), that since the XP series, heatsinks have just gotten extremely big to the point where it looks dangerous to your motherboard... i can understand why but theres gotta be some that arent like that and produce a somewhat similar performance.

Another thing I may look into is watercooling but that would be down the road , thanks for all the suggestions folks.

Take a look at the Swiftech units as well.

Just use the retail HSF. Those CPUs run so cool that you can overclock them a ways with just the retail HSF, and still have good temps. Thats what im doing.

The Alpha PAL8150 would be a great choice.
