Heatsink problem

I was lapping my heat sink, rinsing, sanding, etc...

After I was done lapping I had to take off so I left the heat sink to let it dry.

Later when I saw the heatsink after it dried I noticed all these white spots all over the heat sink grills.

I did rinse with tap water and I'm assuming that these white stuff are minerals from the water.

How can I get rid of these spots? Rinse with distilled water?
