Heatsink on AGP, opposite side of existing Headsink

hi gents,

my AGP card seem like to hottest part in my case when touched, worse than CPU...
my PCI slots are full, so no way to add a fan on the HS or any larger HS.

So, i plan to put an old CPU HS w/o fan on oposite side of the GPU, above (the other direction of existing HS). however, there is some SMT caps there, i hope it works anywhere.

now my concern is, is that ok to put the HS over there and bad effect electrically to the AGP? i measure the HS with ohm meter, it is not conducting. will i be safe?

any material i could put between the card and HS to have better thermal contact?

Thanks

Most heatsinks are made from either aluminum or copper. Most older ones are aluminum to my knowledge. Aluminum is very conductive. If you used al aluminum hs as you said, you would likely short something.

I may be wrong but I seem to remember a good heat conductor is a good electrical conductor....

I think that is wrong now that I think about it....

haha, not really adding a heatsink on it now.
whereas i add a small fan on top (back of GPU) sucking air up, the cap of FAN and the card board is around 5-7 mm

The very thin anodized surface is not conductive, but should not be trusted as an insulator. If you're going to do this, you'll need to use something like frag tape from casemods.com. Doesn't provide the best thermal interface, but does provide that all important electrical insulation...

mine is hot, not only the chip site but even the other area like FET ... bla bla bla.
i even could not hot my finger there more than few seconds sometime after game.
