I just switched cases to an Antec 900 thus i removed my heatsnik (xigmatek s1283?). My idle temps with my E8400 at 3.8 GHz 1.352V are 33/36. What baffles me is that Core 1 never changes temp while in idle: stays at 36. whereas my other core seems to flucuate. When i load prime 95 up, both cores go to 45/46. Is my heatsink not mounted correctly. The 200mm fan on the top of my case is on high (little noise) so maybe its keeping things cool. Either way i really dont care, my temps are rock solid now! I can get my 9800GTX KO's into the 30's now !

If you're heatsink wasn't mounted correctly you would see very high temps. Everything looks ok. The temperature sensors are never perfect.

I see that with my e8400 as well. What program are you using to monitor the temps?

Me too. My idle is around 31C and running Seti and Rosetta brings it up to 40C. With Prime95, it goes up to 45C. I have a Zalman CNPS9700 with AS5

nah dont worry about it, 36c idle is fine. if it was like 33 / 60 under idle... then something to worry about.
