Thanks.

no it wont work. :[

You need to use the sink the board usually comes with unless its a m-atx mobile platform. And there isnt many of those.

But Unless your going to do some massive overclocking the boards sink should handle it with good air.

What board do you have? i have some experience playing with mobile platforms on desktop.

I just picked up an Aopen i945GTt-VFA off of fleabay without thinking much about it other than the dimensions. Looks like i should have looked a little closer. Now I'm stuck with trying to find a cheap mobile cpu and a hsf to work with the board. The slower yonah's seem to be pretty cheap, but I have no idea what the socket looks like so, I'm kinda stuck for a hsf that will work with the setup...Any ideas?

its a socket 479. Can take core duo processors.

So look for a mobile processor which supports S479.

T2000 series would probably fit this criteria. Heres a list

The board is really tiny, and you need to use laptop hardware for it. The Ram is Laptop Ram.

You might need to mod a sink which has a baseplate to get this thing to work. :\

I dont think you can prop a LGA775 sink on it. And it doesnt have the S478 retention system either.

If your board doesnt come with a sink, and they usually do, your going to have to mod something.

This isnt the easiest of boards to work with on a mobile platform. :T

Whats going to kil you more is that it takes a PSU that looks simular to a laptop PSU. So i hope your ready to relearn how to build computers. :T

After reading the ad more closely, the board comes with a hsf so I guess I should be fine :)
