Heatsink for Athlon XP 1800+

It's all copper, which is a plus, but at 33 bucks, its still not that much cheaper than another brand. Why not use a proven winner like Thermalright or Alpha? It might be worth the extra couple of bucks, especially if you're OC'ing.

Nod to Zugzwang152. For that price, you could do better. I paid $24 for my AX-7 (no fan) from www.kdcomputers.com.
Here's a swiftech cooler for $35 at http://www.inflowdirect.com/swifmcwcopba.html. I had an earlier model of this heatsink, and loved it. Once you use the mounting system for the MCXC370, you're spoiled forever! Much easier to attach than any other heatsink I've ever had. Oops, my bad, that is for the heatsink only - no fan! It's a very nice cooler tho.
Here it is with a Papst 33cfm fan for $38 at http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/product.php?cat=1012&prod=MCXC370.
Only bad deal is, MCXC370 uses a 60mm fan.

Hope this helps!

I am running a Alpha PAL8045 with a Vantec Stealth fan on a AMD XP1800+ on a Abit KG7-RAID mobo. It runs great. Temps are running 40 to 41 deg C., but I am not running anything to stress the processor fan right now. I got the hs on e-gay for about $20 about 6 months ago, but it would not fit properly on a Shuttle AK31A mobo that my son is running. So I recently installed it on a KG7-RAID. You also may want to check the "Cases and Cooling Forum" as the have a number of hsf threads.
