Heath Ledger to Get Oscar Nomination?

Ledger's performance in the Batman tale "The Dark Knight" is so remarkable that next January 22, the one-year anniversary of his death, he could become just the seventh actor in Oscar history to earn a posthumous nomination.

...

Superhero flicks usually are not the stuff Oscar dreams are made of. Yet Ledger delivered so far beyond anyone's expectations that he could end up as the second performer to win Hollywood's top honor after his death.

...

"Whatever Heath channeled into, he's found something quite extraordinary," Oldman said. "It's arguably one of the greatest screen villains I think I've ever seen."

(Jeebus, that is a lot coming from Oldman!!!)

someone's really going out on a limb thinking me might get nominated for an Oscar... considering that has been the speculation for a couple months now... 😛

Yea but how much is due to acting vs his death.

How many people are kings/great/etc... just because they died at the right time?

Yeah, I was reading about this a few days ago.

I'm trying not to watch many trailers, because I feel they give away too much these days, but Ledger has looked fucking brilliant in the small bits I've seen.

I ordered my tickets for opening weekend a couple of days ago. First time I've ever pre-ordered movie tickets.

Yeah, I would nominate him just based upon the trailer clips for Batman. He looks great.

I know just seeing trailers isn't enough to make a decision on but I think he will nail the part dead on.

It is without question the best performance of his career and far and away the best villain from any of the movie incarnations to date.

His Joker is a lot different than Nicholson's, in a crazy menacing sort of way. The character fits perfectly with the darker theme of the new films.

I'd have no objection to him winning a posthumous Oscar for his work in Dark Knight.

I did the same! It's been a very long time since I even wanted to see a movie bad enough to actually go to the theatre. They've done such an amazing job with the new Batman movies.

It's PR being ramped up for the movie. Expect more fluff in this next few weeks.

I'm thinking midnight showing of Batman... only problem is, just like it did for the Hulk, it'll probably be a bit full and I'll have to sit up front again 🙁.

Do they do advance ticket sales at your theater? The Regal I go to is already selling Dark Knight tickets.

Of course you can't help but wonder if the fact that he is dead adds to peoples desire to want to enjoy his performance more than they might have otherwise.

I personally like him as a actor for the most part and can't wait to see this movie just because of how awesome the last one was.

What would I do for an hour or more sitting in the theater? 😱 I went 15 minutes early to The Hulk and it was pretty packed already. Of course, I went to Regal instead of AMC Loews, and Regal has less seats per theater (I think... or so it looks). So the top half is maybe only 60 seats anyway?

As much as I think it would be a good movie, I'd be bored to tears waiting an hour to half an hour for it to start... and then have to go to work the next day 😛.

EDIT:

Although advance tickets guarantees me a seat, but not a specific one hehe.

Would you be going with friends? If so just talk for an hour, it's easy. If you're going alone then I can see why that might get old.

You mean since the day he died? Its been discussed/suggestion and more or less ASSUMED that he would get a nomination.

Well I've been hearing that many believed he should have been nominated for Brokeback, and this, in a way, is to make up for that (though he is supposed to be very good in this as well).

Did they really need anymore hype? Who won't be going to see this movie?
