heated CDs

I have a toshiba DVD drive, which appears to have a high rotation speed. when I take a CD out, it feels a bit warm, is this all right?

roger that.

My Pioneer 303s gets cd's a little warm, and my "old" plextor 40x used to too. Don't worry, unless it is HOT, and not just warm.

generally the cloder it is the better. - also if you have a CD Drive that is getting yours CD's quite warm - replace if you can - it will only get worse and you may loose some CD-R/W disks - I have 🙁

If your case has any more places for fans, add some. That fixed the problem for my father. I don't know for sure but I think heat is very bad for CD-R/RWs.

When I take CD's out of my DVD-ROM or CD-R drive they are extremely hot (kinda toasty) and I think I can smell a little burning.

How do you guys live with so many fans on? Don't you get headaches listening to your computer?

I can't stand it even now with only 1 fan. Is there any sort of sound deadening material you can apply to the insides of the computer?

Trying having 4 fans and one of them being a GlobalWin Fop38 7000rpm....I can hear it 2 rooms away.

Yes you can use the car audio stuff on the inside of your PC.... Its called Dynomat available at any local car audio store.

Ohh yes - the noise problem again - I have a total 7 fans in my case
--- 3 BIG, one of them is panaflow, another is old and NOISY...
--- power-supply (= outside of the case) fan
--- Golden orb
--- and another 2 CPU heatsink fans

I can hear my PC across my 3-room-maze-like flat 😉 - you get used to it....

But I have desinged an electronic sircut (still building it..but it works) to monitor my fans and turn them on/off as needed (when case/cpu are getting hot) = less noise

How much does this Dynomat stuff cost?
I can't stand anything that's loud and repetitive, I get crazy headaches...

Right now I think I've had 2 HDD failiures due to heat alone... I need to put my fans back in but I also can't take the noise... sigh...
