Give me your estimates for complete replacement of a 5 ton, 16 SEER heat pump system, including new compressor, new coils, new two sage blower, etc. on an existing house. Including labor.

Is there any advantage to having a heat pump vs. AC and a gas furnace? Assuming the building already has provisions for gas, of course.

The wife doesn't like the heat pump. Our winters aren't very cold but you only get about a 20 degrees rise over the room temp as opposed to the 110+ temp from a gas pack. Unless the heat strips come on and then it's quite expensive.

I recently got an estimate for a 2.5 ton unit with all the other components, it was $6500 for a 18 SEER and $8000 for a 14 SEER. Not sure how much more a 5 ton unit would cost, maybe $10-$12k.

about 3 years ago Lennox 16? maybe 18 SEER 5ton for (everything) two stage air handler, outside coil, and updating a few things up to code. $9,600

I've had some issues with it, the new models are very sensitive and can go into shut down mode easily to protect the compressor. But everything was taken care of quickly.
