Heat Pipe solution

i've got my self a TaiSol heat pipe solution for P4 socket 478. I tried it because it looks kind of OK and as per review here (below), it seems like a performer.

however, i was very disappointed with the results. the temp readings are almost not even lower than my stock HSF... :frown:

I followed the installation instructions down to the last detail. Is there something I might be missing?

By the way, I even used Arctic Silver 5 Thermal compound because i've heard they are one of the best that is available.


specs:
intel P4 2.4A (prescott) @ stock..... yet.
asus P4P800-E deluxe
pqi ddr400 (2x512mb)

Temp readings using stock Intel HSF (Asus probe):
Idle: 46 C
Load: 55 C

Temp readings using TaiSol HSF solution (Asus probe):
Idle: 47 C
Load: 54 C

That was one of the first heat pipe coolers for the desktop. It peformed ok.... but it's no XP 90/120.

will a zalman 7000 cuLED have no trouble with an asusp4p800-e deluxe? i mean, this thing is heavy... and will this really lower my temps significantly?

please help, i want a good return of investment here....

Did the Taisol reduce the noise from your computer???

The Zalman 7000Cu-LED isn't a bad performer, but it is heavy. The Thermalright XP-90 is just as good (or even better, depending on your choice of fan), and only weighs half as much. Only problem is price, and actually getting your hands on one. But if your in the US, availability shouldn't be an issue.

taisol?? no no, the small fan under its fins is loud and its anoying me... imagine running @ 4600rpm, men it's even louder than the intel stock...

but anyways, i returned it to the store and got myself a 7000B-Cu LED instead... though it cost me a little bit more but i'm happy with it than the taisol crap?! but the thing is really heavy...

Don't worry about it. As long as you install it correctly, you shouldn't have a problem with weight.
