I am debating getting one of these cards for my SFF Shuttle since the noise factor is a big deal for my wife. Anyone heard good/bad things? encountered problems?

The GT version of the same thing tends to run a few degrees hotter than the stock cooler. This limits the amount of overclock ability under load.

If you are not overclocking, it is definately something to take a look at, because it is one of the quietest 6800 series cards. If you plan on overclocking, i'd look elsewhere to get the most out of it.

Where most regular GT's do 400/1100 easy from their stock 350/1000, the Gigabyte does an average of about 375/1050 or so. Just to give you an idea of the effectiveness of that heat pipe cooler solution.

Noise factor--Go for it
Overclocking-- I'd think twice.
 
Yea doubt I will be overclocking as I dont need to squeeze that much extra out of the card... but this one seems to be the only GOOD performer with a passive heat system for AGP, the only other one I have found is a Radeon 9600 Pro which isnt in the same league.

I have the card, though I haven't been "testing" it out extensively (classes getting in the way).

It is definitely very quiet, having no fan will do that. 😉 Temps I've gotten were 54 idle and 68 load using rthdribl, with the pipes and shader unlocked. Tried a little overclocking but didn't push it much.

Can't really say much else. It worked perfectly for me right out the box and I think it could overclock decently if I sat down for a bit and tried it. So far I've been playing UT2k4 and Call of Duty at 1280x1024 (maxed settings) and it's been blazin'. 😀 At least, compared to gaming on my laptop, which is beat by pretty much anything these days.
