Seriously? I mean if you have every card out there already, sure spend your dust on making gold versions of cards since there isn't anything else to do with it... But I doubt you have every card out there (who knows, maybe you do.. I mean, I know I am missing probably just 100 cards (and of those 100, maybe only 20 are useful), and I didn't purchase any card packs (just expansions) so maybe you do have all the cards).

Arena runs for me. The card packs from arena runs give me way better cards for some reason than if I buy with gold. I don't have every card but I am missing a lot less than 100. Unless you counting gold cards

Actually, I finally just added my cards into a collection spreadsheet. I am really missing 145 cards (didn't think it was that many). Of those, 2 are common, 31 rare, 72 epic, 40 legendary. I would need 90380 dust to craft them. And according to the spreadsheet, I should now be purchasing GvG packs as I am more likely to get a card I am missing from a GvG deck than from a standard deck (and thus make the pack worth more in terms of dust required to complete all cards).

Any thoughts on what the big announcement is today? I just hope it isn't more hero portraits. 😛

I haven't crafted a single card and have several golden that I use in decks.

Yeah, you can get them in deck openings and also from Arena wins.

I thought they were just doing maintenance today.

edit: nevermind, looks like Blizzard is announcing something. My guess is it's a big-money tournament.

They've announced a new expansion that is due next month called The Great Tournament. The Great Tournament will include a new effect called "Inspire", which occurs whenever you use your hero power. The cards also include effects that modify your hero power. They showed a card called Maiden of the Lake that reduces your hero power cost by 1. It's a common, normal 4-cost 2/6 card, so you can actually play two! D: That also works with a new Mage card called Coldarra Drake, which is a 6-cost 6/6 that makes it so you can use your hero power as much as you want. There was also a 2-cost Hunter card that makes it so whenever you cast a spell, you will gain a random Hunter card for that turn only.

You will be able to prepurchase card packs starting next week for a discount. There will be 130 new cards.

EDIT:

They're currently having some pro-gamers playing games using Blizzard crafted decks. They're showing off some interesting cards like a new Shaman card, the Totem Golem, which is a 2-cost 3/4 with a 1 overload. Since it's a "Totem Golem", it's also a Totem card, which means that the totem buff cards will buff it. There's also some card that gives all totems +2 attack on Inspire.

please don't tell me they actually are only giving the card back with a pack prepurchase, did they not get enough hate from the BRM or galaxy ones....

Nothing wrong with that, not like cardbacks have any effect on the game, and Blizzard has to incentivize people spending money on the game somehow.

It's nice to hear there's a discount for pre purchase since I was going to buy the largest # of packs anyway.

I'm a bit disappointed with this week's tavern brawl (you start with 10 mana) since it favors those who have all the high cost legendaries and forget about winning if your opponent draws alexstrasza the first turn. My favorite was the week when you cast a spell you summoned a minion with the same cost.

Played a guy yesterday that just brought a grim patron warrior deck (at least that's what I think it was with the few cards he played). He conceded on turn 2 when I played Kel'thuzad.

I played a guy yesterday who didn't drop anything higher than a 3 mana. Not sure what he was thinking. I won in 4 turns.

A lot of people are unhappy with the price for hearthstone heroes or hots skins, and you think it will just be fine that they are in effect charging $50 for a cardback...good luck with that.

This week's brawl is certainly set for Priest decks. Turn 1 mind control is too funny!

Here is the deck I am stomping people with.

Priest:
2 inner fire
1 light of the Naaru
2 mind vision
2 power word shield
2 northshire clerics
2 divine spirits
2 resurrects
1 shadow word pain
1 ironbeak owl
2 shadow word death
2 thoughtsteal
1 mind control technician
1 holy nova
1 azure drake
1 harrison ford
1 loatheb
2 holy fire
1 temple enforcer
1 chromaggus
2 mind controls

Seriously just wrecking people with the deck. About the only hard to get card if you haven't done the solo adventures is the Harrison Ford and he can easily be replaced. Everything else is commons and rares and the solo adventure legendaries. If you don't have those then either giants or other big baddies work.

However I caution about loading up a deck with critters that cost 6+ mana as you'll only be able to lay down 1 a turn. Critters that cost 4/5 you can lay down 2 a turn and still have mana left over for spells to help maintain control of the board.

I love being able to have mind control and mind vision in my opening hand for this brawl. Chances are that your opponent is looking to plop down their biggest and baddest on turn 1 and are trying to get their biggest creature in their hand for that. Being able to steal and copy it is great! I would have used faceless manipulators if I owned them in the deck, but I don't.

But you really don't need much to do well with a priest deck for this tavern brawl.

My only worry about taking that approach would be having too low or an empty hand. Your deck doesn't really have any card draw, but you do get cards from Thoughtsteal.
