I stopped playing arena since I always got screwed on cards.

i also stopped playing arena, my best rank was 8 wins like 1 year ago when the game was not very known, now i can barely get to 5 wins

i also stopped playing ranked to get to legend because, even though i believe i would be able to do it, i realised that i need way too much time to play to get there.

So im just playing casual cause i really like the game, and im doing daily quests to unlock the brb wings

sometimes i ask myself why do i keep playing it...

Just to let people know, beware a new deck out there. The Thief Card Mill deck actually can work. It depends on what he is playing against, but it has a good chance of winning a lot of fights. Basically it consists of:
2x Gang Up
2x Coldlight Oracle
2x Healbot
2x Shadowstep
2x Vanish
2x Youthful Brewmaster
2x Ancient Brewmaster
2x Assassinate
2x Drake Azure
2x Sap
2x Sabotage
2x Poison Weapon
2x Backstab
4x combination of decent powerful minion/knife fan/eviscerate

I can see it working pretty well depending on if he can combo the gang up on the Coldlight and/or Healbot. Since he is getting extra cards back into his deck (with the gang ups giving him 6 additional cards) he can simply try and run you out of cards. If you play a lot of minions onto the board, he will use vanish (and with you having a full or almost full hand, it will simply make the cards that were on the board be completely removed from your hand since there will be no space to put them back).

I played 5 of them tonight. I beat 4 out of the 5 (lost on the first one because I didn't see the strat coming). My druid has a good chance of winning as long as I make certain I have the right cards in my had at the start. I can also see my priest decks killing him with a 1 hit monster (but you better make sure you can do it in 1 hit, cause your minion won't be on the board the next turn either via sap, vanish, assassinate, or sabotage and the spells you used to buff the minion will have been wasted).

My top minion deck druid wins because it has a lot of deathrattle and battlecry minions, such that simply putting them back in my deck or killing outright doesn't hurt (and in many cases is exactly what I want).

That rogue deck existed before but now it's popular again with the addition of the gang up card. It did catch me by surprise yesterday while I was playing handlock with coin. So I'm basically life tapping till turn 4 to get my giants out, suddenly he does coldlight shenagins and I burn 4 cards.
Still I took the game right to the end where we were both in fatigue; he was ahead only 2 cards but I had higher HP, but I ended up losing by 1 dmg.

Oh, and I got a real crappy daily the other day. It was to spectate a match. I received the 1 card pack for doing so, but I would have gotten that whenever I decided to finally spectate someone, thus I didn't really get a daily...

Actually, spectate a match, friend gets a win and get a card pack for doing so is a recurrent daily. I've gotten it twice now. I guess blizzard added this daily to help out newcomers to the game. It's not an achievement, you only get the pack for spectating if you have the daily in your quest log.

Another daily added is the win certain number of games in single player mode with a classic pack as a reward as well.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you.
WARNING: Long post incoming 🙂

Regarding class balancing, these are the decks I've consistenly won over 50% of my games at around or above rank 5:
priest (multiple deck types)
hunter (face hunter, mid range)
warrior (control without staple legendary cards like rag, alexstrasza, barron geddon, etc)
warlock (both zoo and handlock)
druid (mid range, double combo)
mage (classic, mech, echo, freeze)
rogue (oil)
Even shaman 🙂 (mech, zoo, murloc)
Most of these decks I use zero legendaries like rogue, shaman, priest, mage. Except maybe loatheb from naxx.

Regarding variety, as mentioned by someone a few posts ago, there's pretty different ways to play each hero. Eg: when facing rogue, it might be mill or oil; mage could be a freeze or fatigue or mech, warlock might be handlock or zoo or demonlock etc, for each hero there are different VIABLE archtypes...

Regarding pay to win... last year when I first started playing, I was overseas for an extended period and so started playing on Europe server, which has remained my main account. On the other hand, I've never spent a dime on the NA server and have a completely free to play collection on it (haven't even bought naxx). I still achive above rank 6-7 on a completely free account on NA. I admit it's harder than if I'm playing on Europe where I have a nearly complete collection but not too much so.

I'm sorry to hear that you've lost interest in hearthstone. Hearthstone is the first game in around 15 years that I've stuck to playing almost daily, even if for only 5 mins a day. I haven't consistently played a game online since the days of games like Red Alert, Warcraft 2, Total Annihilation, Starcraft, Rainbow 6, Warcraft 3, Counter Strike 1.6, Day of Defeat, etc.

I played for the first time in 2 months Saturday and I won all three matches. It's a card game so it's pretty random... At least you don't get mana screwed here...

Finished my Arena run at 6-3...I almost got to 7 wins but my opponent topdecked what he needed to kill me unfortunately. Still feel pretty good with 6 wins.

I now need to get back at BRM expansion. Finished the first two wings including Heroic bosses.

Used zombies chows, dark cultist for early game.
Cleric + Circle of healing to draw out my deck really fast.
Lots of healing with 2x lightwells, Prophet Velen, Light of the Naaru etc.
KT + Dark Cultist not only removed his minions every turn, it also buffed my minions to keep them alive.

Yeah, I love me some Deathlords on my priests. While it is true that you risk giving the opponent a free minion on the board, they are such a strong threat anytime in the game that they more than make up for that fact (and if you really want to, you can always use a silence on the turn you play the deathlord which works really well if you have a taunt out already which protects your deathlord for full health to buff the next turn).

Yes and I have a lot of those useless legendaries lol, but I can't bring myself to dust them. Not like the 400 dust rewarded is that decent anyways... might as well go for a complete collection one day.

Yeah, I think the $10 charge is a bit too high. People don't seem to be too pleased over it, and I don't know if I can blame them when it seems like Blizzard is tugging a bit too hard on the cash cow's teets.

I got a bit annoyed when I bought a bunch of packs at the start of GvG. I think I only bought 40, but I got so many duplicate cards. GvG just has so few commons and packs have a high chance to contain commons that you're going to see repeats. Although, sometimes it's bad enough that you get two of the same crappy card in a pack (you could see that in Vanilla Hearthstone too).

The game seems to take the LoL approach and push people toward adopting a single hero that they pay for. The free hero rotation is kind of a good thing and kind of a bad thing. It's nice because you can try multiple heroes for free (each week) to see what you like, but it's bad, because you end up getting used to a hero and then you have to switch... or pay.

So I felt sorry for the priest I just fought. I was using my druid deck. I had a really crappy draw, and the priest had a very good one. I went second so had the coin. I managed to draw a +1 mana crystal spell on my second turn, so I used that, but otherwise didn't have anything I could do for the first 4 turns... Well long story short, I survive to turn 8 and get out one of the iron barks, fully expecting it to be killed by the 5+ attack kill card, but no, he plays a big game hunter... At this point, I am really screwed. I have nothing on the board, and he has 6 minions out. I draw deathwing, and I still have my coin. So I am screwed no matter what at this point (but since my daily is to kill minions, well, why not), so out pops deathwing. And of course the proper response is 5+ attack kill spell, and then one of the newer 2/4+bonus if you have a dragon card (which he didn't). I draw Dr Boom, which being the only card I have, I play. The priest attacks my hero and plays another of the 2/4's and buffs the first one with the +2/4 spell. I draw KT, which of course I play, and then attack the buffed 4/8 minion with Dr. Boom, and then hit it with one of the bombs to kill it, with the bomb doing 3 damage to the other minion, and I then use the other bomb to kill the minion doing 4 damage to the hero, with both my bombs resurrecting. The priest plays another azure drake, and uses a combo of hero spells which puts me down to 1 hp (good thing I was able to use hero power last 2 turns which gave me 2 armor). I draw a sludge beltcher, and play it, as well as hero power. I attack the drake with both my booms, their explosions hitting the hero, so I kill the drake with Dr Boom, and attack the priest with KT (Dr Boom and his bombs resurrect). The priest then says good game and plays in desperation a kill 3 or less attack spell on the sludge and a newer 6/4 dragon card which summons a 2/1 for me. I kill the dragon with booms, and the 2/1, and proceed to pound on the priest, which I couldn't quite kill). And then after drawing his card the priest quits... he had me to 1 hp.

Game is fun. But ten bucks? Cmon. I need more legendaries. I have some duplicate golden cards. Do I burn one of them for mana or keep both?

I agree. It is stupid, but there are too many people who will buy them for Blizzard to not do things like this. Until people stop buying crap like that, there is no reason for the development studios to stop releasing things like it (since they are making money paying a few 2/3D digital artists and effects artists a few hundred dollars worth of their time to make content that will probably result in a few tens of thousands in profit).

Anyway, just had another great KT moment (he really is the gift that keeps on giving back). In my druid deck against another druid. I started first and drew the +2 mana this turn spell, Emperor Thaurissan (the 6 cost 5/5 that does -1 mana cost to all cards in your hand at the end of every one of your turns), and Druid of the Claw, and on turn 1 get Sneed's Old Shredder. Since I can't do anything I do nothing. His turn comes and he does nothing. I draw a Keeper of the Grove, and use my hero power and attack the enemy hero. He uses his power and attacks me. I draw another +2 mana this turn (I came really close to using both of them and putting down Emperor Thaurissan, but I held off), and use my hero power again to attack. He also uses his hero power to attack. I draw a yeti, which I play. He plays a Twilight drake. I draw starfall (5 damage 1 minion or 2 damage all enemy minions spell). I play my Keeper of the Grove to silence the drake, play 1 of the +2 mana this turn and use my hero power to kill the drake and attack him with my yeti. He plays a Tassdinga. I use my do 5 damage spell and kill the taunt, and attack his hero again with my yeti. He uses a swipe on my yeti and then a do 1 damage+draw a card spell to kill him. I draw KT and play the Emperor. He plays a azure drake. I draw a sludge beltcher and play it, and attack with the Emperor. He plays another swipe against the sludge beltcher (killing it) and then kills the 1/2 with the drake. I draw Ysera, and I play Sneed's Old Shredder. He attacks the Sneed with his drake and plays a 5/4+do 3 damage if you have a dragon, but he didn't have a dragon. I draw a yeti. I attack with Sneed and the Emperor, and play a Druid of the Claw in bear form (2 cost) play the +2 mana, and play Ysera. He plays an ironbark golem. I draw Stallag and play KT, use the Emperor and Sneed to kill the golem. Sneed spawns Malorne (the 9/7 GvG druid legendary bahahah), both Sneed and the Emperor respawn. He quits (aside from deathwing, or a poison seeds+starfall combo he didn't have anything he could do).

Just crafted Tirion Fordring (the original Paladin legendary). Was debating between him, black knight, barron geddon, and the original mage legendary. I figure I do fine with my mage decks even without the legendary, but my paladin decks are pretty bad and could really use the help (need a couple more epics as well to really make the paladin awesome, but I am more likely to get them in a card pack so I crafted the legendary).
