Yep! I put off doing it since I don't have an Android tablet. I finally got around to installing the emulator, which worked fine, but the deal is over. Honestly, it's still not a bad deal even now, but it's not as good. 😛

I was playing ranked (to get the month's card back), and was using my priest deck. It is a pseudo hybrid, control/facestomp deck (2x undertakers, 2x wounded swordsmen, 2x heal all minions 4 health, 2x clerics, 1 harvest golem, 2x dark cultists, 2x leaper gnomes, 2x sludge beltchers, 1 4/3 silence, 1 mass silence spell, 1 set attack = hp spell, 2x the kill minions with 5+ attack,2x soulpriests, 2x do 2 damage/heal 2 damage all minions, Carnie, Sylvanas, 1x sea giant, Alexstrasza, Ysera, 1 mind control).

It isn't a great deck anymore, but it still works pretty well. If I get a good early draw, it almost always wins (i.e. either a combo of the heals and wounded swordsman, undertaker+deathrattles, add in the dark cultists and/or set attack = health spell, and watch the sparks fly turn 4 when you just made a 10/10 swordsman and smacked face with it). It has some extra aoe's from the heals combined with the soulpriests, and they combo really well with having a dark cultist out (especially if you are facing a zoo that just zergged and ignored your cultist that you played on turn 3), in which your soulpriest will still have 4 health on the next turn, so you can essentially now you your heal power to kill most zoo cards (since most don't have more than 2 hp), and if they really do zoo it up a lot, you can sometimes get your sea giant out for next to nothing a put up a sludge beltcher).

And for when they think they can just taunt up to slow down any of the big guns, mass silence is amazing (especially if you had Yersa out and then cast the set attack = health on it to make it a 12/12...)

While yes, I'm learning the game, I can tell the difference between someone with a few nice cards and someone with a stacked deck. It is pretty obvious, even in playstyle. Reading through their forums the dust/gold mining at the low levels by established players is well known and is an issue and is indeed causing a bit of chaos for new players and turning them off rather quickly.

You can only earn 100 gold per day from wins in ranked mode. Nobody is sitting around at rank 20 just to farm 100 gold every 24 hours. Nobody smart anyways.

I've been using this deck with great success. It's really fun to play and have those kinds of surprising elements for the me and the opponent!

In fairness there is an actual problem at rank 19-20 of people who know what they're doing insta-conceding games to stay low ranked to give them easy quests and portrait wins. But theoretically if you play enough you should get as many wins and losses from that.

It really is a time factor thing. Instant conceding takes very little time. Steam rolling a person without a good deck in rank takes very little time.

Winning enough games to stay in the legendary bracket takes far longer games. Not to mention losing a game you thought you might win is a big waste of time.

I picked up a Dell XPS 11 (handsome little machine, keyboard is understandably a sore spot but you get a lot of value out of the hardware with the big discounts you can find on it now) and got Hearthstone up and running on it, very slick setup. It's a little choppy even on low, I think I might need to fuss with the resolution/DPI to fix that but Hearthstone is a great fit for just sitting back and relaxing.

I think if I have too many cards in my hand it could get a little cramped or hard to select, but aside from that the few games I tried on it were very pleasant. Definitely worthwhile if you've got a machine for it.

I opened 82 packs last night, and ugh... the sheer amount of repeats when you're working with a 130 card pool is rather unsettling. I'm not even talking about over the course of time, but there were multiple times when I opened a pack and received two of the same card. Yes, I'm looking at you, Glaivezooka! I ended up getting three legendaries: Bolvar and Mal'Ganis. Am I having trouble counting? Nope, I got Mal'Ganis twice. 🙁

Such bad luck! 🙁

Yeah with GVG the card pool of commons and rares in particular is so small you get a ton of duplicates. Relatively speaking there are a lot of legendaries for how big the set it. That didn't stop me from getting 3 Mimiron's head haha. Oh well, the 800 dust was nice.

And that is why I don't spend money on this game. My luck with this game seems bad enough already. At least as a completely free to play player, I am not as pissed about shitty ass pack draws as I would be if I spent cash on them.

Also, doing all of Naxx as s F2PP took a heck of a lot of time to finish for that set of cards.

Yeah, Naxx was a gold sink, pure and simple. I am still glad I did it, but I did pay to unlock 2 of the wings (I also didn't mind chipping in a little to the devs because I do enjoy the game, and $10 was what I would have wanted to spend on a game like this if I had to buy it outright).

And my luck with packs hasn't been that good either with the GvG packs either. I'm at about 35 packs now and not a single legendary, along with a ton of repeats. I seriously think their RNG for the packs is completely skewed towards certain cards, even if cards are a certain rarity (i.e. legendary, epic, rare), I believe it doesn't work the way you think it should.

Personally, I think on opening a pack, of the 4 cards should have a RNG roll to determine rarity level (with the 5th automatically set to "rare" as a minimum), and once it determines the rarity level, a second RNG for picking out of all the cards of that rarity level for that type of pack, with every card of that level being an equal chance to be picked, but I don't think it is anything like that at all. I think they might have a massive lookup table of maybe 10000 numbers, with each number set to a cooresponding card, with common cards at the lower numbers and rarer cards higher numbers (such that maybe the first 5000 cards are commons, 3000 are rares, 1500 epics, and 500 legendaries (or some other similar breakdown), with many cards given multiple numbers, and more so for certain ones (i.e. GvG target dummy rare probably has 10x more numbers than the other GvG rares).

Since I hadn't even created a GvG-based deck, I decided to just play with my usual deck. I went with my Priest deck, as it's probably my strongest one. I was playing against a Warlock and absolutely dominating him... until I killed myself.

That's probably what you're thinking. How did I kill myself? I used Thoughtsteal and received a Mistress of Pain. I played an Auchenai Soulpriest earlier that let me deal some good damage with Zombie Chow, but what I didn't realize is what great synergy the soulpriest and mistress have together. The soulpriest turns the mistress's heal into damage. Since the mistress technically just damaged you, that procs its effect again, which causes it to "heal" (damage, because of the soulpriest) you again. You pretty much insta-kill yourself if you do this.

I think just about everyone got a good laugh out of it at the meet-up! Apparently, a few of them had heard of it before, but it surprised my opponent as we both watch my health literally drop by 1 again... and again... until it reached -2 (for some reason) and I died. 😛

Only play occassionally, but probably had my best play yet. I just crafted a Ragnaros, and had him and Faceless Manipulator in the same Rogue hand. Had the mana card, so on turn 7, played the mana to throw out Rag. Player had no counter. Next round, threw out FM. Two Rags on the board! Mwahahahahaha. Game over in two turns.

Well I have succumbed to the power of the dark side and made a zoolock with the extra dust I had. Damn this deck I put together is just disgusting in how fast it wins many games. Here is the deck I have right now.

Basically it wins big, fast, and flashy. I look to have a hand with low casting cost minions for my starting hand. I mulligan anything 4 mana or higher. If I still have 4 mana or higher cards in my starting hand I just concede from the get go. No point in wasting time because this deck does not do well in letting the other player build up to round 4+ without being beaten on. There isn't many 4+ mana cards in this deck, but it is annoying when I get them all in my opening hand even after a mulligan. I also do not like having power overwhelming or soulfires in my opening hand that much either.

The deck is pretty simple. Hit them hard and fast with anything you can. Only thing that basically stops this deck is another fast agro deck that goes first, a bad hand draw as mentioned earlier, or a lucky deck with early board clear such as a mage that just happens to have a nice arcane explosion or two in their opening hand. Otherwise it just stomps. Also was very cheap to craft. Barely had anything of that from GvG, and it was like 800 gold to get everything I needed which I had.

It's stupid how good the zoolock and murloc decks can be. It's impossible to stop the onslaught of 2 minions a turn unless I get lucky with drawing aoe right away... even then somtimes it's a tossup.

Yah, I ended up dumping the mistress of pain and second doomguard from the deck to pick up a piloted mech and mech warper. The second doomguard was causing too many losses for me. Nothing sucks worse than have a couple doomguards and/or soulfires in your hand early on with this deck. Those are "finishing" cards or mid game control cards that if I get them early in my hand it just cripples everything I do.

I did go from rank 19 to rank 12 last night playing this deck. Then got burned by a whole bunch of bad hand draws in a row and went back to 16. Ugh! I was going back and for between 14 and 13 for awhile though, but the hand draws were killing me. That or going second to another agro warlock deck. That is the other thing that was pissing me off. I started counting at one point. Went against 20ish other zoolock decks and out of those I went first 4 times, and won those 4. Went second 16+ times and lost nearly all of those.

Well, I was almost sorry for the mage I fought with my mage... almost. He had a really good draw (or a better deck than most). The early rounds were me dealing with his perfect counters. He managed to keep a Mana Wyrm and a Flesheating Ghoul out which I was struggling to clear (he put up 2 Ironfur Grizzly's and the mirror image spell). I eventually got through all of them, needing to use Loetheb, and a Piloted Shredder (and a mirror image to protect the Shredder), and he finally cleared my board instead of continuing to go to my face.

At this point I took control. The Shredder spawned a loot hoarder. I had played my ice block secret earlier, and I pulled out a mad scientist. He used his hero power on the hoarder, puts down a sorcerer's apprentice, played a secret, and then played a blood knight. I play a explosive sheep, which triggers his secret (a mirror entity, so he gets an explosive sheep as well), at which point I say, "sorry", attack his hero with the mad scientist, use my hero power to kill my sheep, which blows up (killing my mad scientist, which pulls a duplicate secret for me), kills his apprentice and explosive sheep, which blows up, and finishes the board wipe killing his blood knight. I then played a Ethereal Archivist.

This is where it gets bad.

He fireballs the Archivist which triggers my duplicate (so I get 2 more), and plays a water elemental. I play another archivist and another duplicate secret. He smacks the archivist with his elemental and then plays a mirror image. I play another archivist, and then use the echo of medivsh spell, to get 2 more archivists. He flamestrikes (killing an archivist, triggering my duplicate, giving me 2 more archivists), and uses his water elemental to freeze the second one (his elemental dying on this). I play 2 more archivists (giving me 3 on the table, 2 are 5/5, the third 7/4). He finally quits. It was a good thing I guess, cause I was going to play another archivist and another echo the next turn.... Only counter at that point would have been a deathwing.

Here's one of mine. It's from a couple of days ago so I don't remember the exact chain of events but it started with apprentice + coin + mirror secret which copied his apprentice). Since most my spells were free, I dropped a mana wyrm, used the duplicate secrets and echo of medivh on a full board.
