You got it! All those "features" which people like costs money to offer. That's why some companies who are known for having lifetime warranties sell cheaper cards without that vaunted warranty (merely offering a 1-2 year warranty).
Like my EVGA 9600GSO, only one year warranty.

Yeah, but it was dirt cheap though. :p You want warranty? You'd have to buy an EVGA (or BFG/XFX) 9600 GT with the right part number, and you aren't going to get that for $50AR.

And yet many of those companies build Nvidia cards.

If I recall correctly Sapphire == Zotac.

I've heard that too, but am not sure as to the exact nature of that relationship.

Most companies that build both NV and ATI are motherboard manufacturers. Basically they seem to run amok and do whatever they want to as far as GPU/chipset affiliation and pricing.

Right now, my opinion is that Nvidia's last ace up it's sleeve it it's board makers. They're just better then AMD's, generally speaking. They seem to have more and better perks, and many have life time warranties (XFX, even better then life time actually). If XFX jumps ship and does well, who knows that may make others do the same. Good news if true.

 Well that and the fact that they make really good video cards.

No doubt they make very good GPU's, they're just not in the dominant position they were in say a year ago.
