"Healthy cities mean happy living"

BD231

Lifer
Wondering which city in America boasts the happiest people? Or the healthiest living? For the third year in a row, ?SELF? Magazine has researched and compiled information on more than 200 metro areas in the United States. Editor in Chief Lucy Danziger reports the survey findings below.

HEALTHIEST PLACES
10. Honolulu, Hawaii (I was born here)
9. Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Lompoc, Calif.
8. Bergen-Passaic counties, N.J.
7. Ventura, Calif.
6. San Francisco, Calif.(I currently live here)
5. Nassau-Suffolk counties, N.Y.
4. Burlington, Vt.
3. Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon counties, N.J.
2. Provo-Orem, Utah
1. Stamford-Norwalk, Conn.

UNHEALTHIEST PLACES
10. Gary, Ind.
9. Galveston-Texas City, Texas
8. St. Louis, Mo.
7. Ocala, Fla.
6. South Bend, Ind.
5. Biloxi-Gulfort-Pascagoula, Miss.
4. Flint, Mich.
3. Lafayette, La.
2. Indianapolis, Ind.
1. Memphis, Tenn.

Check out the whole article. So are you living in a healthy and "happy" place? Or an unhealthy and 🙁 place?

Atlanta is definitely not a "healthy" place. Smog, traffic, crime, obesity, STD's......we got it all.

Flint town represent!

lol, you seem happy to me despite the apparently unhealthy atmosphere.
Which I do not understand in the least. No offense, but Flint is would not be first choice on my "places I'd like to live" list. I grew up in Midland....that's close enough to Flint for me.

Birmingham, AL doesn't strike me as a meca of health nuts either.
LMAO!! What first clued you in? That they fry everything before eating it, or the overwhelming abundance of 44-inch waistlines? 😛

Well subtle hints like an entire row in walmart devoted to home deep fryers, but other evidence such as you're always within throwing distance of a BBQ restaurant. That and the evidence that everyone is just a big fat ass.

Not too often you overhear two good 'ol boys in B'ham comparing their 10k times and favorite tofu smoothie recipies, eh?

South Bend is my hometown, and sadly I have to agree that it's a very unhealthy place. I'm only a stones throw from Gary, too.

I agree with Memphis being #1. I visited there this past summer and it's definitely a fat town 🙂

There is somethign wrong if two places in NJ are in the top ten healtiest places to live...

I'll say, there and New York are the 2 most overweight places I have ever been, New York being the worst by far though.
