I have no idea what is going on.
I need to choose a side!
 
You don't need to choose a side, senator and representative will choose it for you 😉. In all seriousness though, you chose where you stood on this when you voted for the people that you represent in congress. Your input is limited to writing them or showing up at the townhalls and speaking your mind.
 
The proper position is bent over because no matter what happens, we're all gonna get fucked by the big green weeny

actually, that is most of the problem
if we didn't feel a need to pick Democrat vs Republican and instead could pick American, perhaps these issue debates wouldn't turn so vitriolic and we could actually come to an agreement that would help us all
 
Unfortunately, the "choose a side" mindset seems to be a big part of the problem. The complex issues of health care in America don't come down to a "one side or the other" kind of choice, but that is the simplistic position of people who want simply to win, and don't care to discuss and find the best agreed path. I applaud your wish to become well informed so that you can participate in public discussion and write to your representatives in Congress. I am pretty sure that thoughtful constructive and clearly-written letters have more weight in a legislator's mind than screaming crowds on the TV.
 
Any site you get will be biased in some way. Probably best to use wall street journal and CNN and make up your own mind. You'll at least see the contrasting views.
 
CNN has gotten less bad although they still have their share of idiots, same as any site. Drudgereport is pretty awesome, but he has been accused by all the people who hate him (namely the Left) of being biased, but he merely selects news from other sites (CNN.com, MSNBC.com, Politico.com, WSJ, etc.) and puts it on his site.


Also this isn't Healthcare reform, it is ObamaCare, the Right wants just as much reformation to healthcare as the left, but this is a massive leap backwards.
 
Short version:

If your company provides you with an excellent plan at a low cost to you, and if you expect them to continue to pay for it despite huge increases in cost to them, then selfishly(not necesarily a bad thing) you might want to be against any form of universal health care. About the only drawback is that if more and more people don't have healthcare we might see a whole lot more TB and other communicable diseases which you could catch.

If your company is struggling to provide you with health care, reducing converage, and shifting costs to you, then you should be FOR the public option. Private health care companies are using extraordinarily large amounts of health care premiums for "overhead" like salaries, adverstising,etc. I mean huge amounts, some over 30 percent of your premium. Medicare only needs 2 percent for overhead. The idea is the public option will force down the overhead of the private companies. So you will win, your company will win, your health insurance companies stockholders lose.

If you privately pay for health insurance, then you should be for the public option, for the reasons above.
 
The attitude of the OP is exactly the reason this country will never rid itself of a deprecated two party system and the us versus them mentality.

 
No point in worrying or trying to choose a side. The gov't has decided to try to run healthcare. Doesn't matter which party. It will be a clusterfuck.

Also, the Dems can ram a bill through if they decide to. Nothing anyone can do about it except roll with it when it happens. They have the numbers and the plan to move without the Repubs.

They are both passing bills they haven't read. We already know this.

What more do you need to know to realize there's nothing you can do but try to hold what you have as best you can, and take care of you and yours the best you can, until some sanity returns.

Or until the whole thing crashes and burns.

All you need to know is that people are not dying on the street and life expectancies are rising. There is no healthcare crisis. THERE IS NO HEALTHCARE CRISIS. Just a bunch of fuckers that want free shit.

i have heathcare. will it be like the canada system where i now have to wait 3 months to see a doctor because parasites are taking up doctors resources?

I really don't care "which side I am on"... but I know that right now, it is fairly divided.

I guess there are 3 sides:
1. Democratic - Medicare for All!
2. Republican - Capitalism to drive down costs!
3. Leave it as is.

I just want to know how it will affect me if the Democrats get their way.

I work a 9-5 and pay $20/wk for shitty insurance.
That is only $1000/yr, so I guess it's not that much money.
BUT... my company is paying the other 85% of it.
So that means we are paying over $6000/year for my insurance.

Anyway... what will socialized healthcare do to people like me?
Decrease our rates because some of it will be picked up by the government?
That's my overly simplistic thought.
