All this BK talk is ridiculous. Never mind that its a black guy on a young(er) individual's credit score, but you can take the $3000+ that it costs to file BK and pay the ER in one lump sum payment.

That's racist as hell...or did you mean, "black eye?"

I for one would be pissed to have a "black guy" on my credit score...and it'd obviously be identity theft...

I DO agree that filing bankruptcy for this is a stupid move...and I LOL at the folks recommending it...many of whom also rant and bitch about things like public employee pensions and pay, government spending, and rant about how other people spend their money...like what car they drive, what city/state in which they live, etc.

That's what I was talking about when insurance should have already been in place, but not put in effect.

You can't buy insurance after the fact unless it was put into place already.

Under COBRA, you can.

The law gives you 60 days to notify the insurance company in writing that you want the coverage. You then have 45 days from the date you made that notification to actually pay for it.

But the OP wasn't clear as to whether this was group insurance.

COBRA is already in place though for this purpose.

Thanks!

Fuck them.

I just went in because I had ruptured ear drum from ear infection.
When I was checking in I specifically told them I didn't have insurance. Was unemployed & broke. Nor did I live near there. Woman said that I will have no problem qualifying. But was specifically told not to go to financial until after I've been seen.
So I get less than a minute into conversation when I'm told I qualify for no financial assistance because I don't live in the county. Can't I file a complaint over this bullshit move?

broke with internet connection?

I just went in because I had ruptured a head gasket from not changing my oil.
When I was checking in I specifically told them I didn't have a warranty. Was unemployed & broke. Nor did I buy my car from there. Woman told me to fuck off, because mechanics are like doctors, they don't work for free.

You're not making sense. The OP mentioned he was only looking at something like a month long gap of coverage, meaning that he had to be within the period when he could still elect to use cobra. My original comment was that if the OP had the option to use cobra (not sure though, I don't know how it would work for students rather than employees) for his insurance it would cover this, even retroactively. He would be well within the period where he could chose to put it into effect and when he does that he is covered retroactively back to the day he lost his normal coverage.
