Health insurance for students/people between jobs?

students/people between jobs, do you have health insurance now? My school wants around $600 for us (wife & me). WTF do I eat if I pay $600 for health ins and WTF do I live? :|

Anyway, does anyone know any companies that provide good temp-insurance?

I don't know if the words excellent and temp go with health insurance, but I had temporary insurance for about a month and it was fairly cheap, although I'm sure the coverage wasn't that great.

Is that 600 a month or a semester?
For students where we go I think it's $1200 or so a year for health insurance. No dental or vision though. I get that for my wife and me through my job.

for a student, it is $400 and student-spouse it is $2300 per semester

Blue Cross has temporary health insurance up to 180 days.

Blue Shield might have it as well.

Also, there's a company called John Alden that specializes in temp insurance.

whenever I was between jobs I just got a part time job at Blockbuster or something. The health insurance for part timers isn't great but it's better than nothing.

I have also heard that cobra is a decent program. As of right now, I don't have any. But with my new job, I will be looking into it a lot more.
