Headset Tone

Hi,
When online and talking with other people, I get a constant tone dominating....in my soundcard settings I need to engage the 'boost microphone' box to get the other person to hear me. The booster is causing the tone...well 80% anyhow. Ive ran the uptodate drivers for the soundcard and device manager seems ok. Another thing...I have some SW radio equipment beside my pc...and when I touch any metal area of the radio the TONE disapears...I thought this was showed a grounding issue but even with the radio equipment turned off , still the tone disapears when I touch any metal area of my radio, ps, or tuner?

How could I run a test on the soundcard to evaluate all around performance, and what steps can I follow to acquire stero sound without background tone....the card is a sound blaster and is around 4yr old, and oh yes the multimedia audio controller has a yellow question mark in device manager? Again driver report for the sound card is fine.

FYI normal online FM radio, and CD playback is very good?

All good advice welcome,

Berne

Driver issue....resolved....disregard.
