Headset recommendations?

The headset that came with my 360 bundle is kind of crappy (drive through quality). I'm wanting to get a new one and am looking for recommendations. I'm ok with having a wire from the set to the controller, but don't want to have any wires going to the 360. I have my 360 hooked up to my receiver, and use that for sound.

Any suggestions?
 
You're not going to get better than telephone quality. The headset can't make a low bitrate signal sound amazing. If you're having difficulty understanding what people are saying, the wire is probably broken. Those wires are so cheap and thin. I wish MS didn't skimp on the wire.
 
My favorite headsets are still the originals that came with the 360s... before they moved the volume controls in-line. I like them right up on the jack.

I think mine might be busted. A lot of times people stop being able to hear me until i monkey with the headset/connection. I'm fine with phone quality though, just looking for a decent headset.
 
I have the headset that came with my original 360 and it's the old style wired headset. I then bought the "official 360 wireless mic" and I don't like it at all. It'll randomly disconnect, fades in and out, etc. I've moved back to the wired mic and have no problems whatsoever with it.
 
I'm using the second version of the MS wired headset with in-line control and able to be used with the texting kit and it works fine.

Yes, I have the X3, and it is much better than the headset that came with my 360. I hear people better, and people hear me better. I highly recommend it.

Mine was a POS as well, but I bought it very early on. I have seen quite a few people who seem to be happy with them now though.. Maybe the newer ones are improved ? IIRC, when they came out everyone hated them.
