What I would like to know is? Will they reimberse me for having to buy additional equipment, such as a modem! When I ordered my PCs I had the modems removed since I did not need them. I sold all the spares I had laying around, bought a router and so on.... I the letter I got it stated to download a free internet access such as NetZero. Ok thats fine, but if they never get cable back up in my area, are they going to give me back the $300 bucks for a useless cable modem? I really don't think it not coming back will happen, but I really don't want to have to go through the whole deal of getting a external modem to hookup to my router, just to have that go on a shelf once they get everything going again.

ViRGE: I can't speak for other companies, but mine (Shaw) is the 2nd largest in Canada, and is pretty much dominant throught the West of the country. While service with @Home was usually fine with only a few problems now and then, I've found that since they started gradually moving away from @Home about 6 months ago that service has been faster and more reliable. Download rates have been as good or faster. It has been all-around better. Then again, that may have something to do with the fact that it's been a while in coming and Shaw is a big company.
