I just bought a $20 pair of headphones. When I plugged them into my CD, they only work when I play a CD. they won't work with MP3s. They are "digital".

How do I get them to work with MP3s and other sounds on my hard drive?

Thanks

Of course you can't hear sounds off your hard drive when you plug them into your CD player. You have to plug them into your speakers or your sound card. With my GTXP I plug my headphones into my breakout box.

oh. :)

um, what connection do i use on the soundcard. the speakers are plugged in to "speakers." then there is "rear speakers." the other plugs are mic in and line in. i was hoping with the phones plugged in the sound wouldn't come out of the speakers, but that didn't happen, either. :)

Do your speakers have a headphone jack? If not, you can get a Y converter for the speaker out on your soundcard. It's like 5 bucks tops.

Uh, don't go away. We aren't done with you. :)

Unplug your "cambridge speakers" and plug in the headphones into the output from your Soundcard. That way you will know that your headphones work with your soundcard. The Y adaptor goes to the soundcard, not the Cambridge speakers".
