Hey guys, so I want to buy some headphones for under $30. I will use it while on the computer for gaming/videos/music/etc. I usually use the headphones that my mp3 players come with, so I am guessing that my standards are low. I have come down to two choices:

Sennheiser hd201

Koss KSC75

Opinions please! Thanks in advance 🙂
 
I've found every koss headphone to be uncomfortable, especially the 75's. I would go for the 201.
 
Spend $5 more and get the JVC HA-RX700...assuming you can find them (Buy.com used to have them).

For the price, they're amazing.

i have to agree, however cheap Senn's aren't that good.
 
I have these, one of the best pairs of headphones I've ever had. Excellent sound and good bass for the price. Cords a tad long though but if you're using them just at home, it should be fine. Vary good for just $20. Way better than anything else in that price range. Can be a little on the uncomfortable side though but it's worth it.

However, I recommend spending a little more if you're using these for home audio and gaming. $69 at Amazon gets you a pair of Grado SR-60s. I have these too and they're probably the best headphones you'll ever buy. Audiophile grade, well constructed, and can blow ones that cost several hundred out of the water in terms of audio quality.

I prefer the JVC HA-RX700s to the SR-60s (I have both). The JVCs are a bit less detailed and drop off slightly in the higher frequency range, but don't sound overly bright like the SR-60s can. And they have more bass than the Grados. And they're way more comfortable. Overall, a way better buy, I think.
 
Hehe, KSC75's vs HD201's... completely different headphones. I would never recommend the Koss KSC75's as a primary set of headphones; I personally think that the PX100's would be more appropriate. You can also do much better than the HD201's for $30. Before making a final decision, you should consider your sound preference, fit preference, and the pros/cons for open vs closed.

+1. They are supposedly almost comparable w ATH-A700's. If that's even remotely true, I can't imagine you would be disappointed after only investing <$40 on them. If you do decide to go w these, just make sure you give them around 100h's of playtime before you make any critical judgment.
 
The AD700 and RX700 carry two completely different sound signature with different desgins as well with the AD700 being an open can and RX700 being a closed can.

Teh AD700 is bass light and have good clarity with a wide soundstage while the RX700 is a more fun sounding can that's bassy.

Opps, I was thinking of the A700's instead of the AD700's. Sleep deprivation is bad 🙁
