The earbuds that come with portable players are awful. Do yourself a favor and invest in a decent pair of phones. Shure E2Cs are a nice start.

I heard Shure's are expensive (of course, it depends on what model you're talking about), but you can get Koss (S)Portapro's and they are supposed to be the best. Two different models: Sportapro, and Portapro.
