Any one have any suggestions for a good pair of headphones that could block out enough heavy machinery so that you can listen to music at a volume that won't help to damage your ears?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check out a pair of Sony V6's. Kinda hard to find, but good isolation, and great sound quality.

Quite different from the other sony headphones like the v600 or v700 dj ones. Those ones are much suckier.

You may want to check out JamPlugs, which are basically earplugs and earphones combined. They block out ambient noise, and seal in the audio from your player. I work in a fairly loud environment (automotive factory), and I love them!

Hope this helps : )

I would go for IEMs over full sized cans. If you have the cash, etymotic has the greatest level of noise isolation out of any offering currently. They have an excellent HF5 for under $100. If you want the holy grail of sound, their flagship ER4P is about $160. They're known to compare with a lot of $1000+ headphones in the sheer amount of detail they have.
