I'm looking around for some big over the ear headphones for home usage. These are mainly for music; metal mostly. I'd like to hear what you guys have for suggestions on brands, types etc... I'm looking to spend no more than $80. Thanks.

Senheires?

$100 > $80, if you didn't notice, and they're far from the best headphones you can get.

save up another $20-$30 and get the Senn 555s. I'm no audiophile but they sound amazing (better than any sub-$100 phone I've heard) and are very comfortable. The only thing I wish they sometimes had is noise-cancelling, but it's not that big of a deal.

Hahhaahahah. The Senn HD280s are probably the best bang for the buck you can get for sealed headphones. I think I paid $85 for mine.

And if you read reviews on them, they are comprable to $200 headphones.

Based on the " far from the best headphones you can get" copmment, you must be a Bose fan. Possibly a Sony headphone owner also.

sr60's are a pretty good fit for the price range, what kind of music do you listen to?

if you want IEMs, Shure E2C can easily be had for around 70 dollars.
EDIT: Doh, OP said over the ears, well, anything Sennheiser is good.

They're very nice phones, but aggressive music like metal is their weakest point. I'g go with andylawcc's suggestion of Grados. The SR60s, 80s, and 125s are all excellent choices for metal and well worth their respective prices. They are open phones btw; people will hear what you're listening to and they don't block outside noise.
