Going to be buying headphones for my pretty efficient Archos gmini400. Which would serve me better - the Etymotic ER6 or the Shure E2/E3s. My max. budget is $200.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I take the subway all the time so that's why I'm going for isolation in ear phones. I had the ex71 (is that the model?) by sony - way too harsh on my ears. I'm looking for warm sounding 'phones without too much bass - just a nice, natural sound.

i have shure e2c's from buy.com for $65. i like them a lot. they block out noise pretty well and sound great. getting a good "seal" seems to be an issue for some, but i have no problems at all.

i haven't tried the other ones you listed, so i can't comment on them.

edit: the e2c's are definitely not bass heavy. from what i've read, they are more accurate and "warm" sounding than the sony's you mentioned.

i havnt heard either, but opinions pretty much evenly split from what i noticed. ety followers dig its treble extension and clarity. shure has a newer model out, forgot the exact name... shures are known for more bass and rolled off highs with somewhat fuller sound. judging from these words alone, i would probably go with shure.

I would personally wait for the new ultimate ears super.fi 5 pro or the new shure e4c to hit the market. both of these are suppose to be awesome earphones. this is UE's first time entering into the market, so I am really excited to see what they have to offer.

Thanks for the heads up - what are the prices estimated to be? My local store has the er6 and the shure e2s on sale for $99 (I know buy.com is cheaper but I like being able to return em easily). I'm willing to go up to $200 but $99 retail seems pretty fair for the two mentioned phones.

they UE's will retail for 249. one thing to keep in mind with the ultimate ears is that they make custom iem for mostly every rockstar. the have the knowledge to create a nice product its just can they do it. the shures will retail for 299.99 but you will probably be able to find them for 230-215.

i currently have some shure e2c and am waiting to here about these two before i jump again.
