Okay, so I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a pair of 'audiophile' headphones...anyway when I'm not using these with my stereo how can I convert it for use on my iPod?

I believe i need something like this this

I'm worried though that my stereo source (AKA iPod) will be converted to mono in the process. Can anyone confirm and if possible recommend me a better converter?

-Thanks

most highend headphones should come with a converter. there won't be an audible difference between the monster i-link and the one YoyoYo recommended. the only advantage i see for the more expensive adapter, the monster i-link, is it offers a cable between the two ends, so you won't have a long cylindrical adapter sticking out of your ipod.

From Senn's page:

Connectors
Connector 6.3mm stereo jack with 3.5mm adapter

3.5mm is what you want, so you should be good to go with the retail package.

that is a nice set of headphones. i just bought the hd555 myself not too long ago, but it doesn't compare to yours, which is 3X more expensive. ;)

In my defense it did take me a while to save up for. :)

I'm not really big on headphones, so I haven't really researched a whole lot. It seems like the 650s would benefit from an amp though. Have you looked into getting a pocket amp for them at all?

One thing at a time :)

Headphones first, amp later....

I haven't looked into an amp yet, if you know any reputable ones (portable) to recommmend, that would be great.

I'd check headfi.org

I haven't really looked into them to recommend anything in particular, but searching for altoids might give you some good results.
