ok, I have a question about the headers and footers in microsoft word.

I need to know how to have a different format for EACH page.

For example, Im doing a lab report. The lab report pages are suppose to be numbered, which is fine.

But the Appendix has to be labeled, A1, A2, A3, etc.

I can seem how to do this. It just wants to number all of the pages in order.

Can someone help me out???

well, i am not exactly sure if this is waht you need, but i will give it a shot. Go to "view" and then "headers footers" and then click in the footer and just type a capital A and then hit the "insert page number" button after the A. Is that what you need?????

yes sort of, but my Appendix is in the same document as the report.

So if I did that, ALL of the pages would do that, which I dont want.

So the underlying question is really:

How to have a different footer for each page???

Here is what you do:

Make each part of the document that needs a different header/footer page numbering scheme into a seperate section. So for example, after the title page do Insert | Break and click the Section radio button, and "next page." This will insert a section break and divide the document into two sections. Go into the second section, choose View Header/Footer, and uncheck "Same as Previous." Now the header/footer for the second section is independent from the first section.

At the end of the document repeat this process and set up the headers/footers for the appendix.
