I might be headed to New York by myself for three days this summer. However, I don't want to spend more than $150 altogether. Where are good, safe, public places to crash for the night, for those of you who've been to New York?

$100 is for the train tickets I need to get from Boston to NY. The remaining $50 is for food and other things.

Went into a restroom in the lower level of Grand Central at ~9PM.

Noticed a lot of dudes who seemed like they were just hanging out; thought it was odd.

Noticed that the dividers between urinals were all torn down.

Noticed the dude at the urinal next to me was very interested in my aim.

Seemed like a friendly crowd. See if they'll lend you a place to crash.

I'd be surprised if he could find a safe place to stay for $150/night.

This... I went 2 years ago, and the cheapest I found was ~$150 for some shithole a few streets south of Central Park. But I was only looking in Manhattan, maybe you'll find cheaper places in the other buroughs, or find a hostel.

If you can live on McD, there's one every other block, you should be fine.

You really think that it's a good idea to sleep alone in a public place in NYC? You're going to get yourself mugged. If you can't afford a place to stay you can't afford to go.

Best troll post ever. GENIOUS!

No way this guy is serious. $150 to go to NYC for 3 days? What is the point? Might as well go hiking for a weekend without any camping gear.

Central Park is huge - sleep outdoors, it will be the middle of summer and hot/humid.

Start collecting aluminum cans and save up for a room at The Jane.

$50 in food, you will survive by eating the street meat. Subway rides at $1.25 each way is worth it rather than walking everywhere.
