I've had a bad headache behind my left eye for 3-4 hours now.... I've noticed as the night has gone on, my eyesight has gotten significantly worse in that eye...

Its usually pretty crappy, but wow, tonight its pretty horrid. I'm sitting 7-8 feet from the tv and I can't even read the bright green time on the cable box from that eye, normally that wouldn't be a problem at all...

Anyone else ever get this?

No sir. I can tell you what the first thing I'm gonna do if I ever start getting a headache and losing my vision is, though. Hint: It's not post about it on an internet message board.

GO TO A DOCTOR

Yes - I have been getting that since almost the beginning of the year. It comes and goes, and my eyesight gets better when the pain goes away. I think its sinus related.

Pressure put on your optic nerve as a result of the headache? i'm no doctor so who knows. how bad is the headache?

I've never had it, but this lady I knew, she pretty much had what you are describing. I think she had a couple other symptoms as well, I cant remember, been like 4 years. But anyways it turn to be she had a tumor growing behind her eye. So yeah, I would get to the dr and have that checked out.

GO TO A DOCTOR

Right, because Doctors are always open at 8:51pm

Outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, duty doctors. No excuse for you to sit on your ass.

Well its not like i'm dying, i don't think this warrants an emergency visit....

You're having a migraine.

Google "aura phase" or "aura" with "migraine".

I had them for years, even as a kid, not knowing what they were until I read about them online.

I've been seeing a neurologist since they've become more frequent and over the counter medicine stopped working.

I'm sure not a doctor, but it sounds to me like you're having a migraine. Do you see spots that shimmer? When I get them, that's what usually happens first though, then the pain comes usually behind one of my eyes.

Not to scare you, but heres a link on acute angle closure glaucoma.

If this is the first time it has happened, I'd definitely go see a doctor immediately.

Go get a drink with some caffeine first of all, it will ease some of the pressure. If your vision doesn't get better in the next few hours I would go see a doc, your life isn't something to fvck around with

No big deal ... its just a stroke! 😛

Seriously though, if it doesn't improve very soon its time for a trip to the ER.

You have to know your own body as to whether you need to go to the ER or not. It could be the onset of the flu or something (a fever will do that) or it could be just a bad headache or a migraine. Take some Tylenol and go to bed.

its getting better, headache was 7/10 before (also when my eyesight was the worst), its a 3/10 now..... eyesight is getting better, not back to normal yet but definately better...

you need a doctor, my bro-in-law had a tumor in his face, behind his eyeball. it was benign (not cancer) but he had to have surgery to remove it, it was messing up his vision

I prescribe a medical site, preferably something peer-reviewed and with integrity such as le journal de wikipedia. From there you must begin a thorough self-diagnosis and can, at that point, make the best medical assessment possible.

Or you could go see a doctor.

But still, go to the doctor ASAP.

That is a sign of a stroke as well. I'd take it easy and see a doctor as soon as you can. If you start becoming incoherent you may want to ask someone to take you to the ER.
