A friend has a Pioneer CD player (sweet HU) that he no longer uses (he had it in his old truck but bought a new Civic and has a 6 disc changer in there now) and he's willing to sell it for a pretty good price to me. Right now I'm still using the stock HU in an 88 Accord. My questions is:
1) How hard is it to install it? I'm not too familiar with car audio (I installed some speakers myself but thats the extent of my knowledge). I know I probably have to purchase a wire harness of some sort (my dad tried installing one once so we know a harness is a necessity)
2) Even with a harness, I read that you need to do some soldering or crimping of wires. Is soldering or crimping a better solution? (I've never soldered anything nor have I crimped anything, I'm assuming crimping is about 10 times easier, right?)
3) That same friend is good friends with a guy who owns a car audio shop. He said he could probably "hook me up" so to speak and have him install it. (Not sure if for free though) I figure if its not for free, I might as well buy a brand new HU somewhere and let "professionals" install it (most of them usually do it for free). That or I figure I could do it myself, but I just don't know if I have the tools or the technical experience to do it myself.
Any suggestions/ideas?
