Pretty much. Don't know about being an idiot per se, but yeah he's just someone who's dead if i don't have the same belief.
 
You are a hero if you give significantly of yourself (as in, above and beyond the call of common courtesy) to help others. "Hero" is a relative term; one is only a hero in the eyes of others.
 
It's honorable to have strong beliefs. I guess the question would have to be something to the effect of "what did his death prove or do?"

LIke, Christ died because he believed that by doing so, he would provide a restorative link from fallen, sinful mankind, to the Creator. Therefore, his death had great significance.

I would need some additional data from you to better answer your question.
