HDTVs

Alright this is more of an request for one of the usual high quality Anandtech reviews. HDTVs are becoming increasingly better and it seems they have reached the point where they truely are viable as computer display. I see it as a huge opertunity to squat 2 flies in one blow in spending tons on cash on a high quality HDTV instead of spending cash on both a TV and computer display. The problem is that it doesn't seem as if HDTVs really have caught on yet as computer displays, and so there's very little information in this regard available. I know that there's others like me out there who are considering this option, and so perhaps this could be a huge opertunity for an extensive article. Perhaps there's more people even on these boards who wold be intrested?

I've got a Mitsubishi WD-52825 52" Widescreen DLP Hi-Def that I use for my MCE system. In the past I've used it for GTA: San Andreas, A Bards Tale and Fable. The reason I chose those games is because they're gamepad friendly. I have no complaints whatsoever. My resolution is 1280x720 and there's no ghosting at all. If I lived alone I could see myself using it as my main display. However, my wife will never allow me to take over the TV for any length of time as it is. I'm lucky if I get an hour of XBox 360 play a night. 😀

The pixel size on a TV monitor will be bigger than a computer monitor even with HDTV, so you'll have to sit much further back from the TV if you don't want to see the individual pixels.

Not a bad idea - but reality is - the TV is in the family room and the computers are in the "computer room," and never the twain shall meet (as WexSmith indicates. 🙂

I have my desktop plugged into my Samsung HLR5067W. It wouldn't really be suitable as a sole monitor IMO, but it's awesome for games, and usable for Web browsing, etc. I wouldn't want to sit and write a lengthy paper on it, because it's a bit blurry.
