HDTVs <= 32"

I had been eyeballing 32" and 27" LCD HDTVs for the past few months (to get a sense for what I should look out for come black friday), and only now thought to look into non-LCDs for possible cost savings.

The thing is, I'm having trouble finding any such sets. It seems that the <=32" HD market is all LCD, 37-42 is plasma, and 47+ is DLP. Is this roughly accurate?

< 42 HDTV's will all be LCD or CRT

Yeah, I think you're stuck with CRT of LCD in that range. ( not that those are bad options )

Your best option in that price range is indeed LCD or CRT.

What CRT HDTVs are there? I've tried CircuitCity.com, BestBuy.com, and Newegg. The selection is either extremely limited or non-existent at all. What also irks me is the fact that the few CRTs I've found are only cheaper by ~$100 or so. I'd pay an extra $100 for half the weight any day of the week, so something seems fishy to me. I figured I should be looking at $200-300 for a 26-32" CRT HDTV. Instead I'm seeing them for $500-600...

Plasma won't go for less then 42" cause it's difficult to manufacturer. under 32", only CRT and LCD are available.

Actually Panasonic makes a 37" plasma but nothing smaller.

Widescreen CRT HDTVs are 26, 30 and 34.
4:3 come in 32, and sometimes 36.

2 years ago a 30 inch was 800...I wouldn't expect to see them for less than $600 now.

But they're not cheap, and they're going away slowly...I still love my 34 inch widescreen CRT, but the damn thing is so heavy, it takes 3 people to move.

If you are looking for a bargain HDTV CRT, Samsung has the 30" Slimfit CRT (widescreen, HDTV, 1080i) for $560. It weighs in at 117 lbs, which is about 30 lbs lighter than a Sony of the same size/specs.
