HDTV

How many of you have stepped up to HDTV? It seems like a lot of people are still holding off for some reason. I am about to purchase my first HDTV monitor -- Pioneer SD533HD5. I really hope I like this sucker when it gets here as I have to order it.

If you have HDTV, are you happy with it and what kind of setup do you have? Also, I think I will be using mine with DirecTV.

Love mine. My cable provider is digital, but not HDTV. Still a much better picture though. Get a progressive scan DVD. Worth every penny.

I haven't *yet*.

My next video purchase will likely be a DLP projector. *droool*

Yet you spend 2k on a computer.... I love my HDTV and if you live in a big city you most likely have most of your local channels in HD. Shrek is on right now on HBO and it is awesome.

yeah but he probably doesn't watch much tv.

I on the other hand am going to drop £5k on a 50" Plasma as soon as I have a full time job. (probably about 5 years time since I am going to start Uni this September..a guy can dream😀)

Since I watch TV for a total of about 4 hours per week, I don't think it would be cost effective for me. My wife watches more than I do, but she would be happy with a $.99 kaleidoscope. She would look through it for hours. Last, but not least, kids don't need high end TV.

I just had to make this quote also. I rarely even watch tv, and not all hdtv's cost that much. I got one for just over $2k and use it for web browsing from the couch, gaming with the computer, and a dreamcast, dvd watching (rarely), and watching downloaded movies. It's well worth it over my old tv out setup. You can find ~27-32" models for ~$900 btw.
