I'm looking into buying a new AGP video card, and have narrowed the field down to $100-150 and either the x1600pro or the x800gto.

I am convinced of x800gto's game playing ability, even though I'm concerned about it's potential longevity since it has no SM3.0 support.

The last bit that is keeping me from getting the x800GTO over the x1600Pro is that the x1600Pro seems to have features like AVIVO and perhaps better HD video playback.

Would the x800gto be able to output to my HDTV as well as the x1600Pro, or do the more advanced features of the x1600Pro take the cake?

Thanks

The X800GTO would beable to output 720p/1080i with the component video out cables just like the X1600Pro. Its just that the X1600Pro would be able to accellerate the decoding of HD streams. Only current, higher-end processors are able to cope with decoding 1080p streams. Slightly less powerful processors would be capable of decoding 720p/1080i streams. For some time to come, games will have fall back support for SM2 cards. The X1600Pro isn't really fast enough to take advantage of any SM3.0 specific features and HDR[the real kind not Bloom(think Source engine)], so if I were you I'd go for the X800GTO.

Now of course if it was be doing it, I'd upgrade to PCI-Express, but then again, I have no Idea what kind of system you have.

I am currently using a Dell 4600 with P4 2.8GHZ 800Mhz FSB with 1 gig of PC3200 Ram and a <sigh> 128MB Geforce FX 5200. I would like to build a whole new system, but I dont have enough money at the moment. I would really like to wait until well into Vista and DX10 to get a whole new system. THat's why I would like to upgrade the old 5200 so I can get by until then

The X800 GTO pumps out significantly higher fps than the X1600 pro which, as Bull Dog has stated, isn't really powerful enough to effectively handle SM3 anyway. I know the X1600 pro is also cheaper than the X800 GTO (about $50 from what I've seen), but I have read several anecdotes of X1600 pro heat-related issues.
